Why stop there for weight reduction in the cs? Screw body parts, doors, airbags, hvac, all electronics, interior etc. I drive a 300hp 1350lbs car and it's amazing. Sucks when it rains or when it gets a bit cold though.

Everything else - suspension, brakes - can be put on any M2/3/4 to increase track performance...

I'd love to be blown away, I'd pay up to $80k on it if it were a measurable step up compared to say an M3 for track work.

Thoughts?
I hear ya! I visited the dealership today and sat in a well equipped M3 and then 30 seconds later in a 2017 M2. (both in Alpine white) I forgot how Finished the M3 interior felt. Interior is not a huge selling point for me but i do see the cost separation between the two.
really hoping the CS is SPECIAL enuf to be worth 70K-80k If it does, im In! otherwise a Dinan tuned M3 or M2 sounds pretty tempting as well. Patiently waiting...for now.

Not saying that the brakes/rotors in the (older) M2 CS test mule pictured below are CCBs, but to my eyes these look bigger than the ones sporting the base M2.

Forum fellow lemetier pointed out that those are Fxx M5/6 fronts (400mm) and a unique hybrid rear setup. The 4 piston rear caliper comes from the F8x M3/4 MCCB, disc friction ring is M5/6 sized (395mm), and disc hat (with incorporated handbrake drum) is new, he commented.

Would it be possible to use 18" wheels with Option code 2NH: "M Sportbrake" ("M Sportbremse")?

My guess is nope.

These are the options don't scream track car...they scream compromised street car:
* Optional Park Distance Control front and rear (option code 508)
* Cruise control with brake function
* Adaptive LED Headlights (though if LEDs are lighter than HIDs, then okay)
* Wifi Hotspot
* Wireless Charging
* Backup Camera
* Heated Steering Wheel
Hell, not in the 2017 PE had some of these features...its still a heavy car
This is an M2 CS...not a GT4 Clubsport.

You all are forgetting that the super-stripped version will be the CSL.

IMO, M Gmbh is going a little crazy with 3 tiers of M on a given platform... Audi only does two, plus the fluffball base car.

OTOH, when BMW have softened / weakened the sportiness of their entire line by trying to beat Lexus at the boring old person car game... maybe the craziness from M is justified?

Hmm, it all sounds good but I won't be able to handle it sounding like shit.
The N55 M2 sounds great compared to the S55 M3/M4.

Wonder how much this will go for in Australia. 130kAUD?

Hopefully..it's the bs luxury car tax that kills us with price. IMHO they should abolish it considering we aren't a manufacturer anymore.

Either way it might soon be time to trade in the 1M

If m2 CS with less than 20k premium gets anywhere as available as m4 zcp is today, base m2 is so going to be trash...

Considering M3 CP is being sold for $130k even for the latest LCI2 model, if the M2 CS is $130k street price then it would seem expensive relative to M3. I will still buy one though. Lol.

A very interesting note - a guy on 2ertalk says that his insider source indicates the M2 Competition/CS to replace regular M2 LCI after June 2018.

He also says that M2 Competition gets bigger brakes (MSportbremse) and better seats (MSportsize) apart from the S55 with 9-10k EUR premium over the current model. Not much more.
The rest of the equipment stays more or less the same, as VIN decoders shown us + the new colours.

He's been very credible from my observations of that forum and was very much in line with what SCOTT26 and ynguldyn said in recent months.
Assuming BMW would make such a move to replace M2 LCI with M2 Competition - what would it do to the value of current M2s?

Yeh that's a fair point. If it's less then that is even better! M2 CS 6-speed manual. Yes please...

I have been saying this since the CS rumors: if its truly only "production limited" then there is a good chance the base M2 will be gone. Especially since they are limited with slots already on the base M2, it will most likely take its place on the line in limited capacity.

It would also finally retire the N55 as it needs to be phased out anyway due to emissions.
