Porsche GT Boss Andreas Preuninger about the 385 hp [metric] Cayman GT4 output during launch in February 2015: "It's 385, but it's GT horsepower, so it's at least 385. You know we are always conservative about our horsepower figure. It's 385-ish, I would say, and it feels more." (see here at 03:00).

You must've missed this
http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1#post22085101 Also, things change. I can tell you that a bunch of those were switched from DCT to MT at some later point. Which tells me that BMW actually reads the comments here. edit. Ok, the last statement about the DCT switch-over to MT is not true. I checked my records and there were 6MT M2 CS from the beginning. Also that could not have gone unnoticed at BMW and BMW M HQ. See your M2 MY2016 and MY2017stats:

As we know, Adaptive M Sport Suspension (code 2VF) ain't available for the base M2.
Apparently also doesn't feature in the USA-spec VINs for the "M2 Competition".

I don't mind expensive or limited.
I do question where the extra specialness will come from, compared to an M3/4. It has similar power and weight after all. Could the main differentiator be the shorter wheelbase? Everything else - suspension, brakes - can be put on any M2/3/4 to increase track performance... I'd love to be blown away, I'd pay up to $80k on it if it were a measurable step up compared to say an M3 for track work. Thoughts?

Rumor has it that an early-stage M2 with S55 engine lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife over 8 seconds faster than the M4. If that would be true (BMW: video or it didn't happen !): 07:43/07:44 is fairly close to the 07:42 time clocked by the manual-only Cayman GT4 on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires back in 2015. But that was 2015 and reported by only one source on a German M2 forum. Time will tell what the finally signed off package will be capable of.

This is a performance focused car. There is no way BMW would not price this with the competition in mind. People would bitch about the value if it didn't measure up on the track.

These are the options don't scream track car...they scream compromised street car: * Optional Park Distance Control front and rear (option code 508) * Cruise control with brake function * Adaptive LED Headlights (though if LEDs are lighter than HIDs, then okay) * Wifi Hotspot * Wireless Charging * Backup Camera * Heated Steering Wheel Hell, not in the 2017 PE had some of these features...its still a heavy car |

I hear you though, my last car with 380hp weighed 500lbs less than the M2. I'm all for it. |
