M2 and bike transport
I currently have the BMW rack system and 2 bike holders for my 2011 F10. On the shopbmwusa.com it does not list racks for 2016 or 2017 M2. I would think the M2 could use the same racks and mounting points as the 2 series coupe. How have others transported bikes?

I am sure that anything that fits the other 2 series will fit the M2 roof.

Drkevm5 successfully installed a Curt 2 series 1.25" hitch, if you'd rather use a rack behind and keep your bike out of the bugs instead of on top...and it doubles as track tire trailer solution.
http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitc...leid=201643958 I use the 1upusa.com aluminum rack with excellent results on my miata, and plan to do the same with the M2 Best of luck |

I bought the Kurt hitch, as I think I'll enjoy the sunroof open with the bike on the back, and it's a pita to put the roof rack on and off each time. |

Seasucker is a nice option. I was a little nervous at first, but it has been rock-solid for me so far

Often take my MTB on the M2 using a Thule roof rack. It's the same as the "genuine BMW" roof rack without the price tag. Can be fitted in 10ins with minimal tools.
Plus it looks awesome |

How fast can you comfortably cruise carrying your mtb? My big weekend rides are ~2 hrs away of mostly highway driving and there are stretches where the flow of traffic is around 80mph. The trailer hitch is my first choice, but I'm not sure if that will work with the exhaust on the CS.

I think they're rated to around 100mph. The M6 studs holding it into the roof are high grade, and have a high shear strength. It would take a lot more than wind just to rip it off the roof. The bikes wobble side to side a tiny bit but not too much. Plus it's all lockable too so you can leave your car knowing it will still be on when you get back!

I have the BMW roof bars and bike holders for my 135i. I'll let you all know if they will fit the M2 when I get it next month. The bars appear to allow for width adjustment, which I assume will be required for the M2 vs. the 135.
As for speeds, I've had two bikes on my 135i at over 100mph without issue. |

I went with the BMW racks for the 2 series and used the BMW bike holders from my 5 series. It works well and seems solid at 70 mph.

That's....ballsy... I was on i75 heading to Florida in a 745i (in the 90s) and lost the roof rack with four bikes on it at 90mph. Luckily, it was at night and no traffic. I'm assuming I'm not alone in that experience, hence new racks are bolted down. Since then, everything goes on a hitch |

Having spent the last 10 years racing (road) and transporting bikes all over Europe, I can easily say that the speeds you're concerned about is nothing to be afraid of.
Also, for those of you riding road bikes, there's really no need for a roof rack. There's plenty of room for two road bikes in the back seat. Just put some cardboard or a winter floor mat on the seats, and you're good to go. So much nicer than riding around with the bike on the roof. |

Good information re the two road bikes!
Means the MTBs can travel on the roof so plenty of options at our destination 👍 Our Thule roof bar system is limited to 130km/h and is really quiet up to that speed. Given being caught over 130 is an automatic licence suspension for 6 months, that's fast enough. |

My setup. Dealer chucked the 2 series bars in when I picked up the car. Bike carriers are Thule. All in all a pretty solid setup.
