I have started putting M2 lap times on our F8X M3/4 big board. You have to post in our thread, I won't search over here for your times. Try to make your posts concise and in the format I use for the main lap time board.

You're welcome, my M-brethren.

Thanks so much. These are the kind of discussions I've been hoping for!

And thanks for exploring the leading edge of track durability too!

I highly recommend an external GPS that works with Harry's laptimer with at least 10hz. Much more accurate.

It can be a difference of seconds on a laptime and 100's of feet.

Good runs either way
I use Harry's Laptime on my iphon'es GPS. But if noticed some laps are correct and some are way off. Could you provide a link or a brand name for the the EXTERNAL GPS for harry's? thanks!

first track day in the M2
86 degrees fahrenheit @ Autodromo Las Americas
1:29.2
Manual tranny, stock except castrol SRF fluid

did notice brake pads fade a bit at the end of each session.
Need tyres, pads, camber plates and coilovers

But overall very happy with the car. No heat soak issues or anything.

Can you include the m235i? Our track section is dead for that car. I know it's a fake M

I put on Carbotech 10/8 pads with Motul 600 and SS lines and had no fade issues...even with a pro driver at Road Atlanta. Already did GC camber plates at -2.5....now adding MP coilovers, then tire change. This should be all I need to really work the car and have fun....plus get good lap times!

r those carbotechs for both street & track use?

Im thinking of the MP coilovers. But im afraid the ride might be too harsh even in the softest setting. Let us know who they work out!

I would not recommend the pads for street use...they were much better after a few track days but not good enough for a DD. I will not be able to test the MPs anytime soon.

When are you driving next? I have a lot more seat time at Sebring than Homestead but once it starts to cool off a little bit I'll hopefully be at the track some more.
I'm getting close, well not really but working on it.

Homestead - 1:47
Stock M2 manual
Brake pads - Pagid RS29

Palm Beach International Raceway - 1:38 (night)
Stock M2
Brake pads - Pagid RS29

first time ever on a track with any car and finally got the M2 out at Homestead.

what a blast. by the 2nd day i was doing better with appropriate gearing, but of course it rained first thing so that made it even more fun!

i know the car can do better, and so can i. last night i watched a few videos on youtube that showed a line that was probably a bit better in some areas than what i was being coached on.

i really enjoyed the track, just wish it were a little closer...

in any event 1:55 on a semi wet track.

Hope you keep bringing it out! Ric and I are hitting HMS as often as possible with PDG. The line is going to vary depending on your car and the mods you have so instructors directions will probably vary a bit here and there. Keep bringing it out and trying new lines and you will find what works for you.

no doubt. probably a bit early in my 'career' to be worried too much about fine tuning the line. i think my biggest improvements came from gear selection and braking points/pressure.

i really enjoyed that track though.

i wasn't familiar with PDG, will have to look into them a bit more.

my neighbor peer pressured me into this, ha-ha, but sebring is a bit closer.

HMS is a bit of a commitment for me to make, but it was a really fun track. Not that i would know otherwise...

Looking forward to seeing other M2s on a track in south Florida!

I will be in Sebring on 4/15 with my M2. If you can make it, that would be great!

you guys are killing me! lol.

i had so much fun at HMS this weekend i signed up for Sebring on the 8th of April and then again on the 6th of May with Chin. i see there is another M2 out of Naples signed up for the 8th/9th @ sebring.

Abbey mentioned PDG, somehow I hadn't heard of them, definitely need to look into them, as i notice they also do PBI which isn't as a bad of a drive for me as HMS is.

i will have to see what el jefe says. i kinda agreed with her to try and limit it to 1 weekend a month (i work away from home for 2 weeks at a time).

we need to start a south florida track thread...
