That's my point, with the coding in theory it would make it so "0" really means "no lights, not even DRLs," even if you have them otherwise enabled in iDrive. This would allow you to fully turn everything off by going to 0, even if you had DRLs enabled.

I just turned it off in iDrive and turn the markers in if I'm trying to be seen. Easy enough.

I didn't know that was the case for the M3/4 either - I am definitely going to check this out on my F80 tonight.

If i recall on my F82 with adaptive it had a flapper on the inside lights also for the distribution.

I was wondering this same thing and was worried I messed something up with coding because they never turned on. Glad someone else asked because I was feeling stupid

When compared to the fake exhaust noise from ASD I'm actually okay with the inner light being fake. Love the 4-eye look.

Unless you have coded your sidemarker brightness different from stock, you aren't very visible though. The sidemarker position has the lights on much dimmer than they'd be in "DRL mode." You do also get the rear marker lights though (which you wouldn't normally have with DRLs unless you've coded on rear DRL too).

I'll be shocked if the F80 inner lights aren't fake - my last bimmer was an F30 335i and it had inner lights that were just as bogus as the ones on my M2.

I will have my Bluetooth module in the mail soon so thanks for the heads up.

First two items I turned off in iDrive were DRL and sound when locking the car.

The last thing I want is any lights stuck on when the engine is running.
