In his defense, Robin specified that the M2 steers/turns in better than the E92 M3. I've never driven an E9x M3 (they do sound glorious). Have either of you?

I disagree. I've just switched from an E92 M3, and the M2 feels more special. The way it turns and grips is pretty outstanding and you don't see another one on the road, whereas you see plenty of E92s.

on the track is where you really know, staring at it in the garage or going to cars n coffee doesn't count.

Incidentally approximately 15,000 E92's made it to North America over six model years. That's not a big number. We don't have precise Canadian numbers however estimating 25% that implies 3750 cars made it to Canada. With our geography and major cities spread out as they are it makes the number even smaller. Maybe 1800 cars to the Greater Toronto area over six years. It's minute in a populous of 6 million and they are rarely seen. My car being a 1 of 22 in NA Santorini Blue makes it pretty damn special. Looking forward to delivery of my brilliant M2 in May to be used as my year round daily driver, however it will never be as special as my M3. To ME. |

The V8 is/was amazing, but only when you're on it hard, which I loved with my Exhaust mod, but torque is addictive and immediate in the M2. It's not confirmation bias, that's just your suggestion. It's my honest opinion after owning three iconic M car generations. You have all the rights to disagree, but in fairness, you don't have an M2 yet to compare, I do.

It's a real driver's car and man, the torque from down low, e.g. driving in fourth gear at 60km/h putting down the pedal and getting the surge from the 3L Turbo is just amazing. Brilliant engine! Regarding the new B58, man this engine has a superb MPG! No Downsizing and it destroys the 2L 4-pot Porsche engine in real life! Minimum gas mileage 8,1L for the BMW and 11,9L for the Porsche?! WTF?! There you can see the benefits of Downsizing... And the Bimmer is almost 130kg heavier. Bavarian Motor Werks at it's best. |
