how much $$ incentive to buy 2017 vs 2018

deciding between similarly packaged 2017 1 owner with 7k miles vs $4k more for brand new 2018 coming in Dec. Thinking I'd go for 2017 if I could get $6k difference. How about you?

Depends how much lights, dash, updated nav, and gauges are worth to you. I would def try to get more than 4K savings.

i could care less about those, that's why the rational side of me is telling me to go with some savings. all the CS talk in the sticky thread is killing my xmas joy however. sounds like it would be silly for me to buy anything right before the release. wish LCI came with at least some power addons over 2017 to justify not waiting.

I don't know... so far all the "CS talk" is just that. Sure, you could pass up on getting a 2017 now, or a 2018 next month in the hopes of getting a CS next year. Maybe.

Are you prepared to wait another year or two to for a chance at getting a CS? I don't see anyone getting one until at least late next year. And then, not everyone who wants one will be able to get one.

that's fair. i shouldn't have introduced CS into this equation. but I guess this would argue for getting lowest possible price on used M2 if possibility of swapping into CS down the road is desirable.

If you are financing it’s not a big difference. It depends if u want a new car or slightly used car.

Also regarding the CS, unless you are planning on tracking it... you won’t even use the 340lbs of tq and 365 lb of hp as it is.

absolutely, it's more case of owning a special car that won't make me want to buy a new model within first 5 years and hopefully longer.

i would say $4k is simply not enough given the residuals that BMW is using. i'm not saying that their residuals are right, but a $4k savings on a car that has 7k miles doesn't seem right either. if used 2017 M2s are actually trading at less than 10% depreciation rates i'll be much happier about placing an order on one later today.

Wait until after the Competition is announced to see what happens to prices for N55 M2. Shouldn't have to wait that long. It can't be more than 6 months, it has to be less.

I hear ya. Was the same way when i was younger. After 10+ cars and 3 RR bikes in less than 20 years.. I’ve learned to live in the moment...

That said, the Tesla roadster 0-60 is sub 2 sec, quarter mile is sub 9 sec... fraction of price of super cars that are $1 mil+, and can be a daily driver. So not sure how special these cars really will be when all the Electric models come out.

Good luck on your decision man. I’m sure you will be happy with whatever you end up choosing.
