OMG Exactly! not seeing the point of this at all. They need to let the original 1M team make another car from their passion and see what we get...not this bloated M2 steaming pile. Cmon guys get back to making fun cars!

Pay a visit to your local Porsche dealer. For less than 80K you can get a hell of a nicely equipped 997.2 911S or even a 4S with around 30-35K miles. In fact my local dealer has a 991.1 with 24K miles for 85K and its even a CPO car from Porsche.
That's what I did last November and am very happy with it.

Tell you what. Pay another 10k for it over the base model and I bet your dealer will put michelins on it.
Might be the dumbest purchase ever .. paying 10K in options for a $1200 set of tires ...but hey if that's what's important... |

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. If you aren't interested then buy a regular M2. At a minuscule 150 cars it's a moot point for most people anyway. If you want better suspension and handling which is the real center of this edition go for it. As far as additional power most agree this car is ideally balanced and doesn't need more power as the power it has is all usable.
With respect to weight I'm a little confused about the misconceptions. This has been detailed in another thread and I may not be quoting it accurately however the M2 is not a heavy bloated car stuffed with too many creature comforts. The M2 has a DIN weight of 1495 kg or 3289 lbs which is IDENTICAL to the 1M and less than an E46. The often quoted 1570 kg or 3454 lbs is EC weight that includes driver fuel etc. In my humble opinion 3289 lbs does not constitute a heavy bloated overly feature laden car whatsoever. On the contrary it's a respectable number for a 2+2 sport coupe that has all the comforts and DD abilities you could ask for and is simultaneously a fantastic performer. Name another car with that level of true versatility and dual nature. I think a lot of people are really hungry for a true stripper track edition that is lighter than 3289 lbs. and costs somewhere in the ballpark of the current model. Will the CS or GTS meet that demand? I don't know but I doubt it because those will be significantly more expensive cars. So if BMW is listening please build a reasonably priced stripper/track model if for no other reason than to stop the whining. |

It's not identical to the 1M. It's heavier. Particularly with the DCT. Bring your porker to a scale ... Just like many other typos in the M2 literature regarding mirrors, closed deck... twin turbo instead of " twin power " single turbo |

I still have a deposit on the M2 and an M2 CS as well. Last Saturday I took my 911S for a "free after the sale" checkup and I've made the mistake and test drove a '15 911 GTS. Now I'm stupidly hooked to that damm car and trying to figure out the financing for it. I hope and pray someone should get it soon as the GTS is a very desirable trim and especially in manual and with all the expensive "check boxes" checked as this one is.

here is the 1M info you quoted.. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463733 See the current BMW website as it is today.. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...fications.aspx M2 Curb Weight – Manual transmission (lbs) - 3505 M2 Curb Weight – Automatic transmission (lbs) - 3450 lbs you know what's funny.. the info is BACKWARDS... on the website just goes to show you how typos occur.. as I said earlier. 1M 6MT is 3296 lbs - 1495 kg - M2 6MT is 3450 lbs - 1564 kg - Euro printed spec is 1570 kg ? M2 DCT is 3505 lbs - 1589 kg - euro printed spec is 1585 kg ? since the original day that M2 literature came out with the incorrect figure of 1495 which was the 1M weight.... I have been amazed that people can think that BMW can manufacture two different vehicles.. with different parts content.. 5 years apart.. and have them come down to the same exact weight.... DOWN TO A SINGLE POUND? come on man! Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 02-16-2017 at 08:22 PM.. |

Nope. Perhaps you didn't hear me? Come on man!? http://c3.nrostatic.com/sites/defaul...20ON%20MAN.jpg I don't need to do unneeded math when I know that the euro page has a misprint. The figures are right there on the US website I will however he happy to bring my 1M to a scale. Actually... @1M_Tex has an M2 ( and a 1M ) How about I see if he and I can make a date at Autoscope in Dallas and put out cars on the scales. Then we will know for sure .. and once I've proved it ... you can still keep playing euro math games. Just Like the people that were circle jerking over the M2 closed deck vs open deck ... .. Here is the full BMW CAR and Driver Insturmented test.. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ic-test-review 3510 lbs for the BMW M2 Automatic... http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ll-test-review 3415 for the BMW M2 6 MT I can go all day... And I typically get to around $50,000 in options. I want one in the worst way. They are basically throwing in the X51 option!!!!!!! If you get it you I think you will be quite happy with it. |

Speaking of this fake M2 edition, if I wanted to spend the money, I would NOT buy this car and instead, and in this exact order: 1. Look for a low mileage E92 M3, and save $20k in case the V8 blows up and I need a new motor! 2. Look for an E46 and save even more money. 3. Continue to save money and wait for the M2 CS. |
