EOS Tow Hook Plate Hack

Since I live in Cali (enough said), I decided to get an EOS tow hook plate mount which appears to be the go-to for front plate mounting solutions. However, I was a little disappointed that mounting bolts came up a bit short which forces you to mount the plate at an acute offset angle in order to clear the bumper.

I decided to get a little creative with a longer 13mm (M8x1.25) bolt and nuts I had lying around; effectively extending it further out to clear the bumper in a parallel orientation. Also allowed me to squeeze a 17mm wrench in between for a quick release of the plate so that the plate, mount, and bolts come off as one piece.

Neat!

At the risk of taking this off-topic, I haven’t run a front plate here in CA for the past 12 years. No problems yet! 🤞

If it ever does become an issue for me, you can bet I’ll be back here to remind myself of how you made this work.

I bought a tow hook mount for my plates as well. I probably won’t put it on until I finally get pulled over for no front plate 😂
