Mate, honestly, it's not that bad, I get on fine with it. It could be better when you go under the trees but it's not unreadable, and if your going fast then you wouldn't notice as you won't be looking at the cluster. Trust me, it's nit picking.

Agreed, I tried the sensor covering game too couldn't get it to turn on. It's not a real problem it just looks like it should be illuminated with the lcd displays below it in a nice illuminated bright white.

Is it possible to get inside the gauge cluster? It would be easy to create a PCB that could drive some LEDs to illuminate the cluster and have it's own ambient light sensor inside the cluster area.

It would certainly be easier to code the back light as it already exists. |

This cluster is not a big issue to me at all. Definitely not a great design, but you can easily just turn on DIGITAL speedo if it's an issue- problem solved. I got used to it after a few days.
M2 speedo is a 100x better than the horrible one in 911. I can NEVER tell the speed looking at the analog readout as porsche decided to bunch tiny numbers (200mph) into 180 degrees and I only use the digital readout. Moral of this post, it could be much worse. |

Maybe this was asked before - any chance to code digital speed like in the F8x? Honestly, I look at the digital speed 80% ish vs. mechanical gauge

For me, this is an issue. I had the car coded and asked if the orange dash lights could be programed to stay on all the time. The coder could not find the values to change it.
