Transition from DD to Garage Queen
I finally got tired of of putting miles and wear and tear on my beloved OGM2, using it as my daily driver, and bought another car for DD duties. And now my M2 is enjoying semi-retirement, covered in the garage except for weekend jaunts.
And now I worry that I'm not driving it enough to keep it in tip-top shape. I can't say I bring it out every weekend. There have been times where 2 or 3 weeks go by before I get it out. And some of those have just been for short trips, just to drive it a bit. Anything I should be watching for, or any tips for longer times sitting still? I plan to keep this car forever, and want to keep it in top shape for when I do bring it out. I will say one thing, I used to laugh at people who say they always drive their M2's in Sport or +, always thought it was a waste in daily traffic. But I can guarantee mine is in Sport as soon as it warms up now. Guess it's a matter of perspective. |

Just out of curiosity, how many miles did your M2 have before it became your weekend toy?

Get a battery tender, do a full detail/paint correct, then just keep on top of doing the scheduled maintenance. That’s what I’m doing.

I did the same thing.
My Exige is my toy, and the M2 was my daily. But I got tired of putting miles on it and putting it in situations where it could get damaged (big trucks on the highway always throwing crap), so I got a true daily and couldn't be happier. Now the M2 is always perfectly clean and enjoyable, and continuing to mod it has made it that much more perfect. |

Mine kind of sits in the garage more than it should, not a garage queen because I have no issue driving it in rain or snow and track time is the best time but I need to just drive it more. The m2 is a great car but and I think I will get push back modern cars are just too fast for the street for me, just not that enjoyable. I love it on the track and and once in a while on back roads (which does not compare to track time to me where I can really push it). My next car will be something that will probably be half the power and just have more character. I do still love the m2, maybe I just need to drive it more

Absolutely and the other benefit is I pop the hood up and I can spot anything that might be going wrong. I normally wouldn’t see otherwise.

My other car(RS4) has never been my daily, but I did wrack up 30k miles in 17 years. Cleaned it often, all scheduled maintenance based on time, not miles, battery tender when I remembered, garage cover, successfully kept the kids' power wheels and bikes away from it. It is now my Garage Queen until I sell it or... other.
I'm new to my m2. It sat in the garage all winter. I will drive this one forever and add a M2CS as my garage Queen soon.(or potentially the Emira) We are lucky to have so many good choices. You almost can't make a wrong decision OP, drive what you want-when you want, go for a drive just because you can... we are only on this rock for a short time... Why not drive HAPPY!!!
