Insurance during ED (Canadian)
Hi folks,
I'm scheduled for ED pickup on May 16. I'm also paying the $650 to extend the insurance for 1 month. My CA is asking me to have Canadian proof of insurance before I even leave. My insurance company is surprised by this, since the car won't be registered here or plated until several weeks after I'm already back. They say they can't insure a car that isn't registered / plated, and that makes sense to me. What have you guys experienced regarding insurance? US opinions / experiences also welcome. |

In the US you need to have proof of insurance of your current car (to prove you are insurable) but there is no requirement to have insurance on your new car until re-delivery. The ED packet actually says this explicitly in the booklet. Idk if the Canadian booklet is different though.

I just scoured through what they sent me and didn't find anything at all about insurance on this side, not even "proof of insurance of my current car", although that makes a ton of sense.
Are you able to show me exactly what it says in yours? |
