Not upset at all given how well the M2 did in wet vs that melted vibrator of a car even with AWD. I get it it's a real world scenario and this is probably going to be 50% of the outcome in the streets.

BUT....let us as owners get around to doing that positing that up, these guys are suppose to be pro journalists and car evaluators do the cars a favor and measure them somewhat evenly.

I would be making same such comments and scoffing at it had they roll raced the two cars from 35 mph! Because clearly the Amg vibrator looking car would be at a severe disadvantage.

Do it right if it's a fukin drag race. When it rains here we bring out umbrellas and rain boots....just saying

I blame it on the non-shadowline trim.

The M2 CSL will crush it even in the rain.

This is a win for sure..less power and traction and it seemed to be pulling ahead at the finish line

It was a best of 5. They just posted one, the one where the amg actually won.

The Bimmer did better than I expected from a standing start but as always these drag races don't tell the whole story. It would have been more telling if they had conducted a rolling start at say 30 mph and take it from there.

My gut reaction tells me it would have been more clear cut if this was the case.
Yeah need trap speeds and who lives a quarter mile at a time?

And I think I'll pull on all the straights on the track for sure. Higher corner speeds more displacement equals faster in track

Drag racing in the rain by a car-oriented magazine - how stupid.

However, I would have expected the Mercedes to win by a larger margin.

Actually the BMW caught up with the Mercedes after the Mercedes started better, which highlights the big drivetrain losses of the Mercedes (and the slightly higher weight to an extent).

Really? Have our on-ramps in North America changed to allow 0-100 mph acceleration runs to get up to speed? C'mon, 99.99% of M owners (and I'm one of them and as biased as the rest) can only use just so much of their cars' potential in daily driving environments. So accelerating up to (insert a somewhat legal speed limit here, ie 60/65/70 mph) is extremely relevant in terms of the time it takes. And aside from bragging rights, the major mags (all of them) use 0-60 times as a part of their testing. Your comment suites the term "useless" much more than the relatively stellar wet performance of a RWD M car vs a FWD-based, pseudo AWD AMG that happens to rank amongst the ugliest cars ever produced. But that's a subjective comment lol, much like yours? 0-60 times are quite the opposite.

That track did not seem wet to me. I doubt an M2 could achieve a 12.65 on a damp track.

I find it a bit ludicrous that they mentioned a victor on that race. 0.01 seconds is well within reaction time. Strong performance from the M2 IMO .

Anyways, wet track, AWD vs RWD.

Not surprising. Actually, it's surprising that they tied. One-hundredth of a second is most likely within the margin of error of the produced results.
One -hundredth of a ( lost )second was in the wet wheel spin.

The best two outa three on a dry track.
My moneys on the ///M2 sorry house always wins.

In a launch, AWD>RWD when it comes to these high horsepower machines.

Thought the same thing..incredible how bad the orange peel was!

Notwithstanding I chalk this up as a win for the M2, to put up matching performance in the wet.

I don't get it...why would you want to compare an AWD hot hatch vs a RWD coupe on wet roads??? That's basically setting one of those cars up to lose.

Would like to see a rolling test, say 5 mph rolling then go to 60.

4.3 seconds to 62 mph is phenomenal. I actually don't believe it, especially on the rain.

Turbo 4 Vs. Turbo 6. Unless there is Astroglyde on the ground it's wet and.....? So I am still bummed about this. I'm not ripping on either car just let down by this. I prefer BMW to Mercedes.

I know WTF is with BMW paint?! Seriously!
My wife's 228i m sport is our 5th BMW in the family. All out bmw's by far have had the softest paint I've ever seen. It chips like crazy. And the orange peel on my two black 3 series was nasty. I don't get it. I test drove an S4 back in 2012 and the paint was superb! BMW needs to step it up.
