Same as the one in the mighty N55
Wouldn't be a BMW if it didn't have at least one fatal flaw

Really? So you're saying stock it puts out about 450 at the crank?

I guess BMW really likes understating their power numbers...

Thats what I was told at RK tunes who swapped the DME for me, and it makes sense since mine put down 486 rwhp with just a tune and nothing else

At the crank?!! Wow. Did they ever lie to you. Explains a lot.

please do tell how I was lied to, considering what mine makes. Did you not see my dyno graph? And I'm talking at the wheels, not the crank.

Here is another forum members comp. Around 410rwhp is about right https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1621388

You might be new to the platforms but F80 M3 ZCP will do about 430-440 on a Dynojet. Remove 40 from this and you will get an M2C. The stock M2C dynos I have seen put it around 380 to 410 on DynoJets. There will always be differences between dynos, operators, and conditions so the absolute numbers are not that reliable.

A M2CS and OG m2 were dyno'd back to back on the same day. The S55 (m2cs) puts out 448hp at the wheels, the N55 puts out 386hp at the wheels.

Video available on YouTube.

Huh, even at 380whp that's impressive.

Hmm. Just remembering that not all BMWs with S engines are labeled by BMW as M cars. The perfect example was the Z8 with the E39 M5 engine.

And BMW decides what is an M car not the S designation of the engine.

Yes, the N55 is not an M engine. There is a reason for it
Why do you want people to turn heads after your car vs regular M2C? Why do you wish your car would be so special?

Best.Thread.Ever.

N55 sounded so good with the M-Perf exhaust (I had an OG from 6-2016 to 10-2018)
S55 in M2C felt a bit restricted stock. Just bit faster beyond 60mph/100kmh, nice redline @7500/7600(?)

I had some heat soak issues on the German Autobahn with my OG M2( >30 degrees Celsius so that's pretty hot) and the car wouldn't go faster than 140mph ish and went in limp mode. Restarting it and everything was fine.
But anyway. Not too much headroom for hp/Nm improvement if you don't want to spend a lot of money...

I just think the S55 is a better engineered engine in many ways and it shows. It's easily tunable to '100HP more' which I did. No heat issues when on track. Only the brakes...off course...

They're both great cars

Cheers
Robin

Plot twist...most people will not be able to tell the difference between an OG M2 and an M2C just by looking at it. They will be able to hear the difference though. That's what it really comes down to, the sound.
