Yes, because only OG owners buy their cars to modify. You're right.

The OG sounds better to everyone except a small percentage of M2C owners with brain damage.

Calling me dumb? Another ignore.

And just like an M2C owner that should have bought an LS1, your thoughts go to power.

I meant looks/quality.

And I rest my case.

Let us be honest here. Only a small percentage of M owners tune their cars. It happens more often to cars owned by forum members but they do not represent the average buyer.

My M2 is not tuned and I have zero plans to tune it. When I compare cars I only look at stock statistics. And that is what this thread is looking at also.

Please excuse my ignorance here but why is the pre competition model not considered a true M car?

Great looking car! If looks is what it's about for you, then you're the perfect client for the M-lite. Enjoy!

Actually, its the opposite. A small percentage buys an enthusiast car and leaves it alone. If you're happy with your car, I can respect that. This thread wasn't about I'm happy with my stock N55, it was N55 vs S55, in which case there is no comparison.

Respectfully, I think you just make things up to suit your argument. The VAST majority of original M-car owners don't modify their cars, it's part of the reason they buy M-cars. Boards like this represent a tiny fraction of owners, so you have to really dig to get the information, but it's out there. Now, 2nd, 3rd owners, etc, I'm sure it's a different story there.

We can argue all day, but just about every M car or enthusiast car, be it Evo/Sti or whatever, has been modified in some way. Its the nature of the audience that buys enthusiast cars, and is why I feel that the minority of the owners keep their cars 100% stock. Anyway, like I said, to each their own. My car will stay stock other then the M4GTS tune it has, and its enough for me.

You sound hurt, cant understand why everyone doesnt fawn all over your S code engine

I've seen M2C drive through the middle of the street, no one bats an eye, wouldn't even notice it's there. My OG drives through, everyone heads turn and is like wtf is that!?! Meanwhile youre running around with the spec sheet like "look!! It has the S code engine and proper side mirrors!!!"

1M anyone?
I don't think anyone is saying the OG isn't fun... it just isn't a true M car. My 135i was fun too, if you catch my drift.
So a car engineered by M is not a "true M car"?

Got it.

Also ironic then that two of the most revered M cars did not have an S engine code. Maybe M is better at not making true M cars?

Al Bundy, first, I'm a huge fan of you and the Bundy family motto. Second, it has nothing to do with the code, and everything to do with how much better the S55 is, for reasons already mentioned. You either see it or you don't, and its fine either way.

I'm BM3 S2 and have 280 tw tires, so the car goes well enough, but I prefer it sideways.

Put it on a dyno and you will see the difference between N55 and S55.
I guess there goes the "mostly no one modifies these cars" theory?

Sure sure sure

The sound for many is very important to the equation

And the N55 sounds truly fantastic , and the S55 sounds absolutely horrific

I'm very content

I love the sound of that turbo in-line 5

But I've owned enough crappy VW product to last me a lifetime

Here's my obligatory "can't we all just get along" take having owned a N55 335i that was tuned w/Stage 1 and M2 tunes and am currently a 2021 M2C owner

My 2015 335i 6MT w/the M2 tune was my favorite combo, the torque was in the perfect range for daily spirited driving and none of the weird over boosting like Stage 1 (BM3) gave me. The N55 is a great engine and sounded amazing with the M-Performance Exhaust I had.

My '21 M2C 6MT is just way more fun to drive than the 335i. I've driven an M2CS which is better, my M2C has the same playful driving characteristics but with a detuned redline and price tag. Exhaust note is not my favorite on the S55, but I knew that going in and I'm more about the whole package of the F87 (exterior, spartan interior, handling, performance, etc.) and what it offers vs. one aspect (sound).

I would have bought an OG M2 if I wasn't buying new, it's just how it worked out that I was able to get an allocation in Feb '21 before the end of production of the M2C.

I just like performance cars - especially BMWs, I like all flavors of the M2, I love seeing other M2's driving by because it is a rare occurrence and they're such a great design. I feel like this forum is very divided between OG, M2C, M2CS and it's always funny that just like 6MT vs. DCT, or the color you have, it's so divisive.

If we're talking sound alone, I wouldn't be buying a BMW, it would be V8 in a Mustang/Shelby or Camaro ZL1 - no comparison with sound in my opinion w/a V8 vs. Inline 6 or 5.

I'm confident that my Stage 2 OG puts down more hp and torque than a stock M2C, but it doesn't matter, the car had enough bone stock.

Secondly, I'm the second owner, I bought it to modify, and I'm a modify type of guy, hence being on a message board in a discussion with a nut.

I doubt it. A stock M2C puts down 405-410 to the rear wheels. An OG stage 2 will put down arond 400whp depending on the dyno. In any case, I'm sure its fun to drive and thats all that matters.
