If that is the case he isn't wrong, all my Japanese cars have been bullet proof (minus my EJ257 powered subaru wrx sti's), while my m2 hasn't been totally terrible it wasn't perfect either (valvetronic issues, key issues, brake shield noises etc).

Well the service manager took care of me. Got the gasket replaced under warranty. Drove 45 miles home and put it on the lift to check things out and……wha whaaaa, leaking worse than before.
The saga continues….

I cleaned it all off and am going to put some miles on it to ensure it is not somehow residual but I don't see how it could be. It is leaking very little but any leak with less than 10k is not acceptable imo.

Glad it was covered by warranty for you. Hope it was just residual oil from the repair and not active leaking.

I know this is an old post. But I thought I’d add some useful info. If you get an oil change and they accidentally spill oil from your oil filter cap when removing, usually this is caught with a rag, but if tech did not catch the spill, it runs down the engine and eventually shows up exactly like the original pictures show. In exactly those points. It will look like dirty used oil. Not your new fresh almost clear oil. I just went through this. It takes awhile for the dripping to stop. I used degreaser and rags. It eventually stopped. Ensure your filter cap is not leaking (mine was not leaking, and it was nice and clean up top). A few ounces of spilled oil takes a long time to finish dripping and weaping away.
