I still am hoping that the price increase is only a few thousand at most. I like to think that there will just be an extensive options list and a basic M2 can still be had near the 55k mark...

What can I say, I'm a dreamer...

I would spend more time asleep dreaming if you want the comp for $55K. Currently the N55 M2 is $55,495 with no options and destination. I will be incredibly satisfied if base MSRP comes in <$60K

That was an M2 featuring the wing that BMW has developed for the M2 MotoGP Safety Car (2016).

Maybe you could call it "the elephant in the room".

So has anyone been successful in reserving an allocation for a Competition, since it seems like a sure deal for an April reveal at this point? Wondering when I should talk to my dealer about getting in line... I'm assuming I'll get turned away unless I call on the day after the official announcement, but I don't have any experience with reserving a not-yet-released model.

Well if that turns out to be the case maybe I can snag a good deal on an '18 model... Above 60k is over my price range. It's getting tough to find a performance car with a manual transmission these days. Actually very tough... So if BMW keeps the price down for a basic model I'll stay interested. 60k plus is getting up there...

  • BMW M2 VIN specs of over 100 pre-production 'M2 Competition' cars (from October 2016 onwards): here

Can you be more specific here since I am a new member - do you mean dealers have started taking reservations for Competitions long ago? Should I wait until the official release date to place an order, or should I call now and inquire about getting in line, even though the dealership might know know anything about Competitions or not be allowed to take orders for them yet?

Supply is supposedly going to be limited, so if you want one, you probably should've been on a list long ago...

but nobody really knows for sure.

I'm talking about the Competition, not the CS/CSL; if I understand correctly, the Competition will be the new base trim. Not made in unlimited quantities, sure, but impossible to get if you haven't been on a list for over a year?

I think nobody here knows the answer, so I'll just give my local dealer a call tomorrow.

I wasn't able to allocate a chassis here in Italy, and it's still impossibile right now. Probably on April will move something, but I think that the very first cars will be reserved only for the various presentation around a number of dealers.

Cardiff, chosen for the fact the group seems to have the lions share and for fulfilling several m4 GTS orders, keeping my foot in the door with the deposits, it is possible he's getting facts mixed up or doesn't know as i have money with them for a 'cs/csl' and a 'csl/gts'.

My first deposit was put down in 09/2016 and most recent was 10/2017. Not all dealers will create a list until the car is officially announced, some will. Back then I had to speak directly to the sales manager at the dealer to create the list. If you are serious about getting a comp in the next year then you need to call dealers in your area and potentially around the country to find ones that will take a deposit and write up a purchase order. It is a good idea to find dealers who are willing to sell the car at MSRP and who are willing to explicitly say so on the deposit PO.

Don't wait, get on a list now. You're already late and there are most likely many others in front of you. That's not to say that you cannot find a dealer further away that can get you a top spot. Make sure you get a written contract and put a deposit down. If you can put a deposit down with multiple dealers. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. GL

RS3 has 400hp and is 55k just keep that in mind. I think it's possible BMW won't hike the price very much.

I'm thinking below 60...maybe 57k with more options to take it to the upper 60's. I am interested if it's under 60k. Not because of financial limitations but because I feel that's where the pricing should lie.much more than that and other options look that much better.

If that were true. The S55 in the GTS has water injection and 88 more horsepower.
