I have recently gone with this set up and it is exceptionally good .
The sound over stock is much more aggressive and you can hear the turbo spool much more . The less restrictive cat is noticable immediately I would highly recommend |

I dyno'd 393bhp at the wheels, I'm running Fabspeed Sport Cat, ITG panel filter and MPE.
The car sounds insane in track mode, not far off a V10 Huracan when nailing the M2 in long tunnels. Turbo is eager and ready to go all the time, car is really pulling hard at 3,000rpm and beyond. A little rev time when stationary at the lights in track mode is smile inducing - car has really transformed in to an animal. Having Wagner IC, ER charge pipes, PureTurbo's Inlet pipe and new DV+ fitted to end of week so hope to break the 400bhp zone pretty comfortably. All running 99 Ron. |

Isn't bhp at the wheels contradictory? But yes, the sport cat DP alone gets you close to 400 bhp.

Nope, didn't Dyno stock car I'm afraid, wish I did really. I was part of a group of 4 M2s that dyno'd back to back on same dyno. 2 were completely stock, one hit 362, the other 364bhp - I've heard from others too so it's pretty safe to say BMW are being very accurate with their bhp quotes for M2, if anything, general consensus says it's actually a little under 370.
Will Dyno again once IC and hard-pipes have been installed. |

When you dyno a car, it ceases to be bhp and it becomes whp. Bhp is what the engine makes at the flywheel. So 365bhp is what the m2's engine has from factory. Whp is what the entire car (not just the engine) actually puts down at the wheels on a dyno. Bhp is typically 15% higher than whp on a rwd car. They're not interchangeable terms, nor should they be used together. You can't have 393bhp at the wheels. You can either have 393bph or 334whp. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the...whp-explained/ Last edited by AndrewC1989; 05-14-2017 at 01:53 PM.. |

^^that's some funny shit Andrew. I really wish all car manufacturers had to abide by the SAE formula that I believe GM uses, a set-in-stone standard. Dynos are great for modding a particular car so you know the HP and TQ that was added after said mod. Other than that, there's just too many variables between each machine. One dyno could read 340 for an M2, another could read 320. These dynos cost upwards of $100k. You'd think they would be surgically accurate uniformly across the board. I'm done bitching. I'll take Dinan's word for it....360 bhp for stock, 446 for P2 package, add 30 for the 200 cell DP and viola...476 bhp is what I'll tell people.

Even catless DP, without tune, will net you no more than 10~15whp in peak. The nice gain you see in down low is mostly a result of quicker spool up. Whatever stock power you think m2 is making, 10~15whp more is what you have with your current setup.

I'm thinking of going back to this particular dyno. I put down 349/367 bone stock and 367/408 with the Dinan sport tuner only (no DP). I should absolutely crush the 400 whp barrier and push upwards of 450 WTQ on this sweetheart of a dyno....if only for bragging rights. Thoughts?

You're running a full bolt on set up with modified turbo's and only getting a 50hp gain? To me it doesn't seem like it's worth $6000. Last edited by AndrewC1989; 05-11-2017 at 10:55 AM.. |
