I know I know I was kidding. Figured I'd say that now to get it out of the way for everyone.

My guess is the CS version will start around 70k. Just a guess. And, I thought you decided against the M2 because you didn't want to or couldn't pay MSRP.

Lol...I know. But, don't you think it would have looked dumb if they put a bulge on that raised hoodline that already looks like a bulge?

You can also see it here...

I unfortunately cannot, nor do I even know what it'll cost. I know that doesn't help you much because you'd just have to take my word blindly.

Besides, I personally do not think now is the time to buy the M2 anyway. If you can maybe wait a year (they're all sold out for now anyway), you can get yourself into an LCI by next summer.

I agree a double bulge would be dumb looking, but having a slightly bigger one wouldn't be bad either. Either way if the CS(L) does happen I'm all for it.

I didn't want to get it because I'd have to wait too long and also because it would be better for me financially. In 2018 I'll be making more and would've saved up a bit. 70k should be OK and the value of the car would also probably not depreciate much.

I definitely want to be on the list. Better to have a gun and not need it than need it and not have it.

Then expect Comp Package to follow and then CS(L). Just a guess of course

But you reckon the cs/l is definitely going to appear?

Im guessing if they do it properly it'll be the same price as the cayman GT4 (MSRP that is) ~ £64k + here. Don't want any of this flipping and colluding going on, people should buy them, use them and love them - will have to wait and see how that pans out.

This might be a little off topic but do you know any dealers on the west coast who would always sell their cars at MSRP and not use the fact that it's limited to mark up the price. I understand that they could start charging more in the future but I just want to know who has not done this in the past even when it would've been easy to do so and get away with it.

Just thinking who I should put my deposit down with. My local CA already sells the m2 at 4k over msrp so I'm fairly confident who would jack up the price a lot more on the CS (L).

For what it's worth...

A new source stated the following on the basis of talks with BMW folks:
  • M2 production increase: scheduled, but complicated; per ten 2ers, only one M2 is manufactured, and the M2 production requires more labor/time (assembly);
  • no dedicated M side mirrors for the M2 (M235i side mirrors): this was due to the production cost increase which would have been required to retool the 2er side mirrors layout (M3/M4 mirrors don't fit);
  • facelift: "March/April 2017"; LED headlights can be ordered as a cost option from the end of 2016 onwards for Spring 2017 deliveries; [note: an earlier rumor indicated MY2018 for the 2er facelift];
  • S55 in M2: planned for MY2018.
    (source: here)
Another source replied to that message to have seen the S55 engine with M4 strut brace already sitting under the hood of an M2 test mule. "2018" was indicated as launch date, but "possibly only a small series" (read: limited edition):
"I have even already seen the test mule with the engine in the M. Wanted someday to see the engine bay [...]. It struck me that it featured the M4 strut brace. Was then confirmed that the engine is coming. 2018 was mentioned to me, but possibly only a small series (M2 CSL ?). But of course there are also variants that never become a series model."
"Ich habe den Versuchsträger mit dem Motor bei der M selbst schon gesehen. Wollte mir damals [...] den Motorraum anschauen. Dabei fiel mir die Domstrebe vom M4 auf die verbaut war. Wurde mir dann bestätigt dass der Motor kommt. 2018 wurde mir genannt, aber möglicherweise nur eine kleinere Serie (M2 CSL? ). Aber natürlich gibt es auch Varianten die nie in Serie gehen."
(source: here)
In a March 2016 interview about the M2, BMW M development boss Dirk Häcker remained vague, but did not rule out the possibility of an S55 for the M2 ("everything is imaginable" - "we will see what the future will bring"):
A: Man kann da an vieles denken, definitiv.

(source: here)
And it seems that an F82 M4 CS (Clubsport) is in the works too (source: here).

Just spoke to a couple of dealers who said they will talk to their connections in Germany and get back to me. One of them said he met a few people at BMW M last week. None of them mentioned anything about a 2 series CS/CSL in the works. He did tell me that, he will let me know as soon as he hears anything about this.

I'm already queued up and if I score an M2 CSL I will be keeping mine.

This is what I want in the M2 CSL. Just put in the S55 without the turbos (If that's an option) to get about 400 HP and add in all the carbon fiber bits, a wing, hydraulic - assisted steering, get rid of the back seats and the technical package. You'll basically have a car that on paper should cost less than an M3/M4 to build and should be a lot quicker than the M3/M4 on a track.

That's what I'd want. Naturally aspirated, lean and something that talks to your soul.

An engine designed for turbos running without them isn't a particularly good NA engine. If you want a good NA engine you have to start from the ground up or an existing NA engine design. The closest thing to what you want is to drop an S54 or S65 in there in which case just buy an e46 :P Plus 400hp from a 3.0 = 133hp/litre NA which is really really hard to do. Consider the GT3RS is 125hp/litre.

What's the difference in compression ratio for the S55 vs S54. I would assume the s55 had a lower CR.
