Staggered wheels, aluminum doors are now standard on the basic model. 1989 - E34 M5 is out 1992 - E34 M5 gets a bigger engine, 25hp boost It's only recently BMW stopped doing major updates to the drivetrain, but that's how they initially started. I did not even bring up LCI updates, nor I even talked about revisions to the non-M models. Things move much faster there. If you always going to wait for the next new thing, you'll never own anything. |

I agree with the OP.
My next car will be a Porsche. But in the mean time, I'll do what I normally do with my BMW's... Make my pre-LCI, non-competition ///M2 faster than the new ///M5 by spending (wasting) $15-$25k on aftermarket turbos, fuel systems and tuning. LOL, I'm retarded sometimes. |

Marketing blunders are Coke thinking they can change the recipe without fans being upset, or Chevy trying to export a car to Latin America called the "Nova"...which translates to "No Go". Those are marketing blunders. Choosing an engine which won Ward's Best Engines 3 years in a row, and tuning it up to 0-60 in 4.5, and then selling them faster than they can build them doesn't seem like much of a mistake. But that's just my opinion, and as another member here once reminded me, "opinions are dark mysterious places and nobody wants to know about yours." |

You should continue reading forums and never purchase anything.
Something newer/better (subjective) will always come out soon after your purchase. The duration of soon is the guessing game for ALL products. |

That whole life cycle sh*t is the reason why I bought a completely stock M346 couple of years ago. Couldn't care less about changes to my M2. I will always love the E46 more anyway.
BTW, just as a tip: Get in your car, roll the windows down and put the car in Sport+ and have a blast. You will see, it's not that bad at all

But in all seriousness, so many people are so attention-deprived, ADD, forget what you told me 5 minutes ago, nose in the smartphone...well, that's why they're changing things so often (IMO) - just trying to keep people's attention, and stay relevant.

My apologies for me not being aware of such details. What a fool I am. I won't refer to myself as a BMW fan or fanboy again. I will just tell people I like, sorry liked, BMW cars a lot growing up

Who cares? There's always something bigger, faster, etc. out there. If you drove an old Civic and lust after every new car that comes out every 6-12 months, you'd save a lot of coin. As for me, I'm happy with my "lowly" N55 powered 2018 M2.

Everyone loves the Civic and from what I've read, it's a great car but it's ugly. It's like the designer has a box of items for making a car look sporty and just stuck them all on.

You mean the Civic Type R? Yes, friend of mine has one and it is a great car but ugly as sin. Need to put bleach in my eyes every time I look at it....and never forget to remind him of that

Every time I get angry about not waiting for the M2C, I go for a drive in my LCI and I'm reminded how happy I am with that amazing N55/exhaust sound

People upset should use this example as a far extreme which I hope you all don’t ever reach. OP: This is not a first world problem. You need to manage your own expectations and emotions. Find what made your eyes light up when you first got the car and continue that every day. Then remove yourself from any M2 Comp media coverage and this forum so you’re not reminded. Understand there has always been speculation of a CS or CSL version and nearly all M models now come out with some type of Competition package. You just didn’t do your homework and wait for it. So toughen up and trade up if you so desire or sell the car altogether if you’re taking this situation as if it were some bad break up. |

It'll probably be my last new one for a while since I don't appreciate the new design direction they are taking lately. (There will be a old E46 in my future) But it seems like the easiest solution to your problem is to save up and not buy anything unless you're 95-99% satisfied with the product. That way even if the next best thing arrives, it can only fill 1-5% of the deficiencies and you won't feel bad about it. Don't buy something with a compromise? |
