Lol no. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong but I think he meant instead of getting an M2 Comp now as a MY2019 he will get one next year as a MY2020. In other words, he's planning to get one but towards the end of production.

Yes that's right. I'm planning to get the M2 Competition but will wait a year.

I am wondering if the Evo article changed anyone’s opinion? I still plan on keeping my LCI.

I am a bit underwhelmed after the article, TBH, not happy about the weight gain at all and wonder if it is worth it? But, I will need a lot more info than one article to verify such a decision. |

To me, this argument sounds a lot like the Z3M S52 vs. S54. I've driven both, but the S52 just felt better suited to a light quick and nimble car.

Although I am pretty sure my relationship with BMW is one and done I did hold off a bit to see what this new car was bringing to the table.
Overall it is a good evolution of the current M2, Bravo to BMW for improving it. I would still buy a good 1M over the M2/M2 Comp though but the price is a barrier. I think this is my first and last BMW... I lusted after E46/E92 M3, really wanted the 1M but got the M2 just hate feeling I would have enjoyed something a bit older more? Are these current cars missing something? |

I've voted no, purely because in first year of ownership I cannot imagine I would take anything other than a royal spanking on depreciation for my current car, that alone would put me off the swap as I just dont want to throw money down the toilet like that.

Nope, doesn't make financial sense to trade a 2018.
Personally, I don't see enough of a difference between my whip & the Comp to light that fire: ~40 hp, 1/10th second quicker to 60 mph, cosmetic bits... Agreed that the S motor is highly tunable, but doubt I'd do that anyway. Don't track it, so it's more than required for spirited driving. YMMV |

The 0-60 time is getting way too much play IMO. For one thing it's probably underrated. But the main thing is that the S55's big advantage is over 60mph and that is precisely where track peeps want improvement over the N55.
If this is your DD with few/no track days then the performance increase of the S55 may be outweighed, or at least evenly counterbalanced, by the (subjectively but generally accepted) "better" N55 sound (and possibly better low-end torque?). However if you track even somewhat regularly then the S55 really is a clear improvement and the sound is secondary. |

That all depends on whether this version of the S55 uses new encryption or can be modded on day one. I want at least 500 HP if I'm sticking with BMW and not going American |

It's no Lotus But with that said I bought it as a Summer daily and its perfect for what I bought it for. Would easily have to increase my budget $20k to get what I would consider a better car that would fit the bill. So will take what I can get these days Last edited by mbrunner; 04-14-2018 at 03:17 PM.. |

I'd like to have
- the two user preset buttons on the steering wheel if I can set both gear program, throttle respons, asd/exhaust flap, steering weight, esp/traction.... - bigger brakes for track use (I'm very interested to find out what they will cost to add to my -16) - I don't know if the Competition has a more effective IC, I'd like that. I coldn't be bothered - 40 or so extra horses - M mirrors - other assorted design changes I don't want - the new wheel design - the M seats (for me the original seats are better both on track and roads) Last edited by MagnusT; 04-15-2018 at 03:16 AM.. |

Still just don’t see how it’s significantly different vs what I would use it for. I would have swapped it for a z4 if it had looked like the concept. But nope.
Sides I’m going to spend my funny money on watches instead of the car |

I’ve had a quick look at figures today, seems you don’t buy a bmw for rock solid residuals!!!
Dealer estimates £30k for my M2, it’s covered 3k miles and 6 months old, there is no way I’m absorbing that kind of loss, I might contemplate it if the new model was very limited but it seems it’ll be mainstream production. That coupled with the fact I love the current car so I can’t imagine the new would be that much better for me. |

For those who are going to dump their OG M2, for the new kid in town, I'll just drop this here:

I'm guessing most of the people here on the forum buying an M2 understand that it was not a good financial move, but that's worth the trade off in having fun before you die, assuming you can still pay for the necessities and save for the future. |
