M4 CS is stated to be in the USA summer 2018. I think this means the M2 CS will be on US soil end of 2018 beginning of 2019.

I don't see the M2 CS coming here before the M4 CS does.

$90,000 CAD

Spoke to my BMW salesman locally, who is generally knowledgeable and a an avid BMW fan himself. He stated the M2 competition would be $90,000+ out the door CAD, that is ~70,000 USD (obviously, would depend on what options you would get as well).

M4 is $68,700 in the US. So he is claiming the only M2 for sale after July will be at the same price or just above the M4? Seems unlikely.

Probably will depend on how its optioned. I could see a low 60's usd starting price. Add in the sport seats, upgraded brakes, DCT, exec pack related stuff and you're probably looking at about 70k usd out the door fully loaded.

Close to it, but out the door I am sure he meant "fully loaded" + taxes, fees, etc.

Even if you get the basic M2 Comp with no options - I am sure it would be low 60s w/o any options, taxes, fees.

The Pricing Guide for the M2 MY17 and MY18 were both released in June. Not a far leap to assume pricing for MY19 will also be released either in the first or second week of this June. Until then this is all speculation and I would never take the word of a "salesman".

I don't like assumptions, but in this case - yeah fully loaded @ 70k, I can see it.

You put enough stuff on the N55 M2 you can get it to 70k. That doesn't mean much if the range is base no option to loaded with every option and M performance accessory + driving school + taxes and fees etc. It would almost be impossible to be wrong if we are working within that range.

Ask him what you get when he is completely off, bet him $5k off msrp.

Considering M2s locally here go for an average of 80K CAD fully optioned w/ taxes, fees I don't see any reason not to believe him . I am assuming there will be much better deals/discounts in the US, considering it's a much bigger market. I am sharing based on local pricing, I could be wrong.

Hahaha! You bet! As I have stated previously - fully loaded M2 w/ tax, fees is going anywhere between ~75-80K CAD locally. Unfortunately, I don't see his estimate being off my much.

Didn’t catch the “fully loaded” part. A fully loaded N55 M2 can go for just about $70k in US, if you live in high tax state(plus fees, etc).

I think the key thing to take away from the VIN numbers, almost everything is going to be an option. So you will be able to price how you like.

Base price was ~$51,500 for 2016? So a price of $60,000 would be ~17% increase in only 2 years.

It’s $54,500 now. Can’t go back in time. A $5k(10%) increase of msrp for a detuned S55 and some other updates, is more than reasonable.

He mentioned in another thread that is fully loaded. Out the door(tax, fees, etc)...in some high tax states the current M2 is very close to $70k fully loaded.

The deals in Canada May be just as good if not better than in the US (percentage wise). The M2 market is flooded. Last year at this time used M2s were selling above msrp due to tight supply. Now my local dealer has 6 M2s in stock and we're not a huge M market. It should really be 7 as far as I'm concerned because last week one of the managers took an M2 as a demo car. Bmw put them on their DYB list, so employees can drive them too, not just managers. We'll be seeing a lot of N55 M2s on the used market right at the time the S55 M2 goes in to production.

I know we're not average joes, but why would an average joe buy an S55 M2 with 405 hp when they can get a crazy deal on an N55 M2 with 365 hp? Personally I'm waiting for the 2019 version which is the one rumoured to be lightweight, etc. If that doesn't come to fruition then I'm not getting any of them.

That is a lot of M2s. Halifax is not THAT much smaller a market than Winnipeg and there are very few M2s in Nova Scotia even now. But yes all the really keen buyers have theirs, a few are holding for the Competition, so
it would appear supply has caught up with demand.

To the OP's points, I agree with others that a sales person's prediction is not worth much. But our American friends on here should remember that the BASE M4 is $76K here in Canada. Current M2 is $65 base. That being said, $90K is really out there unless loaded to the gills.

Fully Loaded N55 M2 in Canada has the following options:

M-DCT - ~3500 CAD
GLASS SUNROOF - ~1500CAD
ANY COLOUR OPTION WHICH IS NOT ALPINE WHITE ~850CAD
APPLE CARPLAY ~ 750 CAD

Theses are option available in Canada, maybe the US has more options available - I am not sure.

All in you are looking at ~74K CAD, taxes range from 5% to 15% depending on province/territory + all the dealer fees, etc.

Easily "out the door" ~80K+ for an N55 M2. Now if you want "basic M2" - Delete ~5K off the price.

S55 M2 - Will likely have the same options as the N55 M2 - here in Canada. The 90K Includes options listed above and there will be likely others to add (if you wish). I just don't see 90K CAD being "unreasonable" or as something to "dismiss", when a fully loaded N55 M2 is easily pushing 80K CAD.

Is it M4 territory? Ofcourse. However, you can also get an M550i with a V8 for around 95K CAD - so where does the comparison stop? But I bet BMW will market it as being more in line with the M4 competition rather than the base M4.

M4 Competition locally range from ~$115K-125K CAD (Incl. taxes, fees, etc.)

On the basis of the recently leaked USA-spec VINs it looks that the options list will be long.
Seats, suspension, brakes, CUP 2 tyres, maybe lighter wheels....that would be my extra "CS" options besides the basic options I have on my current M2 (no DCT, no electric seats, no tilted roof, no MP exhaust, no MP carbon parts, etc)

The current F87 M2 for the European market can be spec'ed à la carte.

The current F87 M2 for the US market only gets limited choice: body color | M-DCT | Executive Package | moonroof | Apple CarPlay (and early 2016 not even the last two).

The M2 Competition list is long(er) than the current M2 options list (see here).

Time will tell whether, for the 2U73 (F87 M2 Competition for the US market), BMW will stuff virtually all options again in one pack with some fancy name ("Track Package", "CS Package", "CSL 1aB Package", "Xpensive Package", "Whatever Package", "WROON Package" [WeRanOutOfNames Package], etc.) and put an even fancier price-tag on it.

Or maybe two packages: "Executive Package" (similar to the current one) + another pack with those more track-oriented goodies (one-piece seats [option 712], uprated brakes [option 2NH] and Y-spoke wheels [options 2QT or 29U]) ?

Educated guess (2U71 | 2U72 | 2U73):
  • stripper (zero options): outside M3/M4 price-territory;
  • all bells 'n whistles (fully fledged): inside M3/M4 price-territory.
As said before, some in Germany have heard quotes up to EUR12K price-increase for the M2 Competition. So wake up and smell the roses.
