Google Maps - Waze topics

Anyone ever use this feature?

I use it quite a bit for work when I travel to clients. It is nice to copy from my outlook calendar right into google maps and send to car. Instead of having to input the address from the idrive system.

This worked flawlessly on my M235i, but having some issues with the new M2.

I finally got my M2 setup in my connecteddrive account, new dealership was having issues with their system.

Still, unable to send the address. Called their support and they said Google changed something and no longer working.

He showed me a way to do this directly from the connected drive login interface.

Anyone else having this issue?

Don't have my M2 yet (got my VIN today though ), but it is a feature I was looking forward to using.

Will subscribe to see what others' input is.

Agreed. Used to use the send from google for my X5 but it suddenly stopped working a few months back. Since then I have used the BMW remote app and it works every time

Use Waze, and not the built-in BMW nav. What a dreadful navigation system is that if you are used to Waze or TomTom.

The BMW navi has been pretty good for me in KC. Mostly in town to clients, never had an issue.

Never used waze or tomtom.

Only google maps on my phone otherwise.

Try Waze and you will love it... Nothing is better and faster than Waze due to its online capabilities. Only downfall is that it uses quite a lot of data, but if you have unlimited data on your phone it is all fine.

you can link your calendar with the bmw connected app and it will do a push notification calculating time to destination. you click the notification and say send to car. for example, you have a doctors appointment at 10 the app will notify you and say you need to leave in x time to get to your appointment for 10. then you click on that notification and you will see an option to send to vehicle via usb or messages, select messages and it show up in your car messages. I also set one of my quick buttons in the car for messages so i dont have to scroll through the menu.

Just wanted to bump this, has anyone had any luck with google maps on computer and then sending the directions to the car. I'm trying to plan a detailed route through Europe on google maps and then send it to the car but it doesn't seem to be working

I've not done a multi-stop trip on my M2 yet, but when I did one on my e92 M3 you had to use the Connected drive web portal to get to a captive google maps, then create the trip, then upload to your car.

This used to work but it's a feature they've removed now for some crazy reason. I even rang Bmw connected drive support today and they said it's not a feature they have anymore

Me too. But, I have learn to realize that it can vary by OS (Android vs IOS vs Google Maps) as well as region. Servers can go out and usually resolve by themselves within a couple days though.

Not working for me here in UK. PITA, as it used to be much faster and more convenient than using the BMW 'Send to Route' method.

Phoned local 'genius' who disappointingly didn't seem fully aware of both aspects of the issue. The obstacle in my case is that I can find no link within Google Maps on PC (or iPad or iPhone) to 'Send to car' or similar. Any car. So presumably that's down to Google, not BMW, yes?

Google Maps - Waze

Hi,

I have not bothered posting this for some time because I was hoping for an update.

My car uses the Google Map info only if the resolution is set above 1 mile. Thus the google map detail is ABSOLUTELY of NO USE. Below the 1 mile resolution the map view is just the typical cartoon view of the world.

My Audi's(2013 A8L and 2015 Q7) show the Google Map detail at the max resolution so you can actually make use of the image information when determining driving needs. That is when you zoom all the way in to feet instead of miles scale.

Why is the BMW Navigation app cut off at the knees? Is this only in the bargain basement BMW models (i.e. the 2 series) or is it the same for the 7 series etc.

Thanks,

Mike

PS I have had the M2 for a year and love it, but after a year of use and getting well passed the learning curve, I can say in my opinion the navigation software in the Audi's is better. (flame suit on for the haters).
