Any discussions on PCD?

I notice the heading for threads, but haven't seen anything here in PCD. Wondering who's done it and what the experience was like. Also, can you go to the center then have the car delivered locally?

There are several good threads on this subject. Search "PCD" and you'll find them.

Also, PCD delivery means that you pick up the car from the BMW location in Spartanburg AFAIK.

Just do it. Picked my M2 there earlier this year. The 1000 mile trip back was awesome too.

I'm doing it for my M2. I also plan on doing the XPEL full wrap at same place EL BAN did his. Awesome way to protect the car on my way back (I do a lot of cross country road trips) so it'll help a lot.

I wish I can just go to PCD for the experience and not have to pay extra to have my car shipped back to my local dealer. I heard they are building a PCD in the west coast that will be done within 1.5-2 years. This would be a lot more convenient for those in the west coast wanting to do PCD and drive a reasonable amount of miles back home instead of paying shipping from east to west coast. They do have a BMW thermal track out in Palms Springs area but that's more for driving school.

I picked up my M2 there a few weeks ago. I was going to have extreme colors do my clear bra but they could not meet my expectations of the install so I did my normal painters tape it all up and had my regular installer do mine.

Can you clarify what you mean by "not meet your expectations"? Thanks!

They do not wrap edges or stretch. My installer can do everything from bulk with little pattern use. Look at the install on the PCD M2 cars and determine if it is good enough for you. They use a cheap film on the PCD cars so ignor the yellowing when you see it. 75% of my edges are wrapped. Behind the rear wheel pattern is stupid and that is from the Expel patern as well as the rockers.

So with the PCD you take delivery and that's it? Not sure I would do it for the $1000 extra it will take to ship the car.

Rye, why not just drive it back from Spartanbug? I'm making a long weekend of it and bring a buddy or my wife. Keep in mind they also allow a guest to participate in the on track training.

Yeah. I'm in for 12/09/16. I don't think Extreme Colours will be able to do a full wrap since they said that their "cross country" wrap (full front) will take a day and a half.

I'm taking delivery on Friday, dropping it off on Friday too. However, I need to get back to Illinois by Sunday night since I already have another flight scheduled on Monday.

Hopefully I can hire another shop to wrap the rest with the same material.

BTW, I got quoted 2K for cross country (doing this for transparency).

Oh what did you guys do to the form that they sent you? Do you give that to your dealership? The one where it asks for your information.

I will be doing PCD on 12/8 and extreme colors that afternoon into Friday. Was told could pick up around lunch on 12/9. They also said they are getting into tinting as well, which I believe I will be taking them up on.

I'm debating on having Century BMW in greenville install my CF spoiler before having the wrap installed. Not sure there will be time however, depending on how long it takes to have installed. I'm driving back to Ohio over the weekend, and doing a bit of a tour to a few friends and family on the way back so would like to have installed if possible.

However, may end up running into you at some point.

Will need to research this a bit. I think it is a nice experience, but so is the M school. By the time all is done, the cost is half of the M school and probably a fraction of the driving. Does someone have the agenda for the PCD? I'll check out what people have written about it.

Wow, $2k for a full front wrap on a $50k car is hardly worth it. I hope that is full custom. I've had a full front done locally on a Porsche for under $1k. Expel using pre cut.

I don't think they use a pre cut. If anyone else knows alternatives, let me know.
