I think that's actually how they do R&D though. Much of the i8 technology, which is considered a niche car, eventually trickles down to the more mass produced vehicles when it becomes cost effective. If its cost effective for the M2 to use those parts based on expected production numbers, they would probably use it.

Why is that ? Well.. let's just say that the weight of a car becomes an issue when that car is actually driven by... oooh.. i don't know.. the driver... and not when you have it on a scale standing still... ( it's just one of those silly conclusions you get to once you use your brain.. don't worry.. you're not in any danger there..), and that is why, the car manufacturer provides you with an estimate for the car weight with an averege driver at the wheel, so you can understand the mass of the car WHILE MOVING ( cause that's when you feel the weight.. not while staring at it in the driveway ). Of course this is not set in stone as it can be increesed by the number of optional equipement you have on the car, wheel size, weight of the actual driver, etc... |

In the real world, the car is fueled, and is being driven by a human being.. in most cases.. so... in the real world.. EU weight is the weight of the car.. )) I will admit that the 2700 pounds wish was a bit to optimistic, and that was my mistake for not translating Kg into pounds correctly.. initially... I think that a 1350 kg ( around 3000 pounds ) M2 lightweight can be done without a huge amount of R&D .. ( as a later, special version of the car ) Last edited by Demon23; 07-07-2015 at 10:58 AM.. The rear fenders of the M2 look great. Saving 700 pounds from an M235i remains laughable. That's using laden weight for you.
I'm of the school of thought that cars weigh something. A real weight with fluids is useful. Arbitrary driver and luggage weight is not overly useful. When does it stop? Should sedans have weights listed with four passengers and pickups have a bed full of bricks? A car on a scale tells a story that's easily comparable to other cars. I'm cool talking Kg, but would prefer to talk about car weight, not car plus average size human and some of their household items. |

Mirrors need a bit more work as they are a focal point on all sides of the car. They are boring looking for an M Car. Perhaps I have been spoiled with the look of the F80 mirrors which I love.

Probably not. Work is going to be super busy, plus I've already done all the European Delivery things (Nurburgring, Stelvio Pass, car museums ect ect...).
Having said that, I'm already planning a 6000+ mile road trip from South Carolina -> Texas -> California -> Colorado -> Kansas and then back home. Yet another reason I need to the M2 Any interest on the new M's on your side? How's the E90 treating you?

It will get proper M mirrors just like your F80s. Same thing was for the 1M, it doesn't get the mirrors till the very end.

Sure glad those little square reflectors are temporary because I keep seeing that Honda Accord coupe sport? They made the Accord look so aggressive for a slow fwd coupe. |

my comments were on stock vs stock... however.. yes.. one can do *lots* if one starts rolling fenders and clearancing and /or or using aftermarket suspension etc The 1M easily fits 285/30/18 on 10" wheel in front and 315/30/18 rear R tires on a 10.5 in the rear with no fender rolling.... I run 285/30 x 4 for better wear. I haven't tried it yet but a 335 on an 10.5" or 11" wheel will go in the back for sure.. there is tons of room . Using the stock wheels.. a 275/19 can fit up front and a 315/19 in the rear. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 07-07-2015 at 03:45 PM.. |

I'll have to settle with M3 a weak 420hp and 275-295 square. I love square setups. |
