New car finish
Would like to know the best way to protect new car finish on delivery. Should you have your paint protected by these sealants? Any thoughts?

Full coverage paint protection film. To me, this is the only way to truly protect the car from day 1.

Small stone chips and a bit of dirt - the only way for me that a car looks really appreciated and used the way it was intended to be.

Nice! That's what I want to hear! I spent all weekend detailing it and now I kinda dont want to let it leave the garage and ruin all my hard work.

Drive the shit out of it and stop being a pussy. I had a stone ship after the first 20 minutes and I haven't looked back.

Assuming you have to wait for appt and still drive in meantime, then you may want to use "Road Wrap" to make a cheap, temporary and transparent "bra". |

Careful if you use road wrap. I used it for the first time and didn't do a good job applying it. Some of it was coming off loose during highway driving and it messed up my clear coat and I had to get it wet sanded.

I had zero problem with it either coming off or messing up the paint. Would def not recommend it if it could potentially cause problems, but worked fine for me and I'm a picky mofo

I was just shocked to find that the dealer had adequately applied some wax to my car when I picked it up...and the car isn't a swirled mess at 7 miles.
Just drive it I say...I'm not spending thousands on a clearbra |

1st step is not to let dealer touch it. Tell them to leave it wrapped. As soon as mine came in, it was never touched and left wrapped, then delivered to xpel installer in enclosed trailer. I personally went down to ppf installer and unwrapped the car myself, then used my equipment, washed with 3BM, decon and washed again. They then did ppf on full front, roof, a pillar, mirrors, headlights, full rockers and rear quarters. I then got the car home and did another wash (after ppf dried for a week) and clayed and polished all areas without ppf. This was all prep for cquartz coating (did 2 coats). All xpel was topped with reload. Wheels were pulled and given same treatment, including wheel wells and calipers. Now when I take car for spin, when I get back a quick blast of DI water and any dirt and brake dust falls right off. No need for soap, never touch paint. DI water no need to wipe down, again, never touch paint. Blow of with air if I have time.
It took a few extra weeks, but now I can spend more time driving and less time washing You scratch your car when you wash it and when you dry it. |
