So I had a few questions for those of you that know and a few comments.
1. Love the car. Seating and steering are very adjustable to get a good fit. One of the best Ive had so far. Car feels tight and drove well. Could not really comment on power delivery yet as not being able to go over 5500 rpm.... Had a great 14 hour drive home through the mountains. 2. Couple of questions? Can the lights on the dash be changed from red to something else? Are there gauges anywhere for oil pressure and temp? How do you turn off auto blip? I have not had a turbo since my Porsche 993TT so this may be a turbo thing but when I let off the gas the rpms stay where they are??? Meaning there is no engine breaking??? Or very little. I am use to having acceleration when I press the pedal and strong engine driver deceleration when I let off. Its how I drive the car. It is part of the control. I do not get engine breaking even with down shifting while slowing down. I feel like half of my car control is gone? Can this be shut off? Do you know which fuse I can remove to just leave the exhaust on loud mode? Does anyone know if the exhaust has resonators or not? ( A lot of the mustang guys remove these and it increases the burbling effect on deceleration.... Sounds great. Lastly, is any of the engine noise pumped back into the cabin? While going 80 my car is turning 3k in 6th gear ( manual ) There is a pretty noticeable drone at this level and I had to listen to it for 14 hrs..... It may just be the exhaust but I was over it in about 20 miles..... Thanks in advance for you comments. Looking forward to putting some miles on the car. Break in period is almost done!!!

First congrats! Second I'm sure you know most of your questions can be answered from many threads here. Most stuff you can code off using bimmercode app or from a third party coder.

There is a secret menu that shows oil temp, but you have to do some annoying sequence every time you turn the car on and want to see it.
You can also code the car to have screen mirroring and get a phone app that shows whatever you want, oil, torque, boost, etc, then mirror it to the screen, or just mount the phone. Also the aftermarket solution, but that is pricey. |

Yes, as pointed out, the "auto blip" aka, rev match, can't be turned off - unless you turn off all the safety features. For some reason, they think you don't want that on while at the track, but do want it on during city driving? I don't get it either and hate it.
and you are now the second person to want to turn off the active sound after a long highway drive. For me, in the city, it is PERFECT, but as with the rev match, it would really be cool if we could just turn it off. PS - as for sound, check out this thread... http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1277527

Also, coding it off in the MY17s is very easy and apparently just as effective as the harness, with no ill effects on the stereo. Bimmercode is well worth the minor cost of the app and OBD unit. I just find it incredible that BMW decided it was a good idea to actively cause drone with ASD. WTF were they thinking? Congrats on the new car! |
