Ive ordered my 2017 LBB 6MT w/o the exec package. Im in Houston so heated anything is a waste. If they offered the backup cam as a standalone for $500-600 id probably add it as a nice to have but When bundled with other stuff that I personally don't find that beneficial I decided to pass. To each their own however. I will agree on a small car like the M2 I just dont see a rear cam as that important.
I also passed on the exec to justify having some parts port installed! The mind games I play with myself: |

The executive package includes Window Frames on the front doors, but not on the rear door.
So it's worth every penny. Mike

Took the M2 out for short cruise today when it was -2 Fahrenheit with the wind chill. Glad I had the heated steering wheel.

I skipped the Exec package when I ordered my M2. The only...only thing I might slightly regret right out of the gate is the backup camera solely for people giving me crap that this expensive car didn't come with it. The rest of the features mean nothing to me. Even the heated wheel because I'll be putting on an M Performance wheel and most (or all) don't have heating elements and I wouldn't need it anyway.
EDIT: If I really cared I can still do a factory part retrofit on the rear view camera for much less than the Exec package. Last edited by Skwinglos; 01-08-2017 at 08:27 PM.. |

To all those skipping the exec pkg: buyers a few years down the road will want these features (back up camera, etc.) so keep in mind resale price too.

I'm not putting gizmos on my car that I don't want, let alone that could need repair down the road, so I can please some hypothetical future buyer. I'm tweaking my car enough as it is to render the car attractive only to a more limited market anyway.

I skipped the heated seats and steering wheel on my 135i. If they were separate options on the M2 I would have likely skipped them as well. Since I had them anyway they definitely got used during our "cold snap" in DFW. In retrospect, it is nice to have those features.

$1,400 is a very fair price for the Executive Package. Lowers the insurance rates for added safety nannies. To me, the extra nannies aren't any different then my radar detector...I generally see the police before my detector but the few times it helps, I'm thankful.

Agreed. If you're a purist, don't buy it, it's your prerogative. You likely only have a few years before they're standard. But the safety 'nannies' may either save you an expensive repair (your pristine M2 won't really be the same after it's repaired and repainted) and/or personal injury to you, your passengers or another driver (pain & suffering, corresponding insurance increase). Hopefully this will never happen, but if it does, I'll bet you wish you had them.
