They are pretty inconsistent.
I am surprised how incredulous BMS is being regarding their intake and CEL's. I am holding out hope they find a fix (I like their intake and spent good $$$ on it), but am not holding my breath. Hard to find an answer to a problem they deny exists..

Return it.
A used intake? One that they claim isn't throwing codes? How about I give you a good deal on it?

I don't use oil impregnate filters and don't want to open that debate

Edit:

Search the Internet, "bms intake cel". Only did a quick read but look like unless you lie to the computer about what other sensors are saying you will continue to have the CEL.

For example...

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1079423, see post #5

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=950230&page=2, see post #39 & #69. Somewhere I also read about a Stage 1 and no problems but that's just more good money after bad.

And the final solution...

Please elaborate! How much stronger does the car feel on Map 1? This deserves a separate thread!

Yep I actually was aware some of these issues with the F-series when I ordered the intake. I took a chance, because I called BMS prior to ordering and they confirmed fitment and lack of and CELs.

This stuff happens. They can't guarantee anything, I do realize that. I was just surprised that in our email conversations, they said that the code I and others threw, is impossible with their intake. Their suggestion was to try a different OBD2 scanner. Which I did, with the same result.

Their products are solid; I loved the combo of their intake and JB4 on my old e90 335; I guess the ///M2 is just still too new and there are too few out there for solid R&D...

Ok enough. I'm content with the stock airbox...for now

It throws a code because the airflow is so much more than stock. Could be multiple things. I doubt it's the oiled filter. They aren't great for MAF sensors but I doubt it.

With JB4 you can run MAF-less. The way the car should have came from the factory like the N54. Idle is much smoother

On map 1 not really. Since the M2 runs higher boost levels your not going to feel much until we start touching different fuel and higher boost maps. Map 1 could even be less aggressive than stock. I'll check the factory boost targets and will post them.

I'm just waiting on some new firmware and will log until then. The features of the F series JB4 with OBDII are awesome though.

I got a similar response. You can read them with jB4 so that's what I'm doing. I have both a scanner and that so I'll let you know what their own product reads. When I plugged in the tune it only said flap disabled. auto clear must have been on from the jump. I plugged the flap back in. I'll turn auto clear off and will let you know since we got the same code.

Hopefully it doesn't pop up for you. Did you install the vacuum line on the intake?

I think it would be wise to email BMS, with the specific code...

I find it interesting that BMS refuses to acknowledge the issue. I also find it interesting that Terry doesn't post here. He used to be all over the 1addicts.

I tried emailing them about my JB4 and still haven't received an answer. That was 3 years ago. It was part of why I switched to the lesser DINAN. They have actual phones and answer them.

I'd like to give the smaller shops the benefit of doubt and a fair shot at my business, but clearly they have no intentions of making new customers.

So has anyone else had issues with the BMS intake???

BMS does not sponsor the e90post forums since about 2008 so you'll never see
them post here. If you want to communicate with them directly just shoot them an email or post on the tech forums. FYI Jason@BMS handles intake development.

In regards to your fault code it might just be that a JB4 is required to run an intake on an M2. If you don't want to run a JB4 and its causing a fault code on your car I'm sure they will be happy to let you return it.
