Update:

After a day of driving with the stock airbox, CEL went away, as well as the rough idle.

Still have hope for BMS providing a fix/explanation. But I cannot drive a car like this with a CEL (drives me nuts), so for now, stock airbox it is...

Oh the BMS can flap can allow you to delete the code ? What if car triggers a different code will this keep it off permanently

Can flap doesn't delete codes. It's just part of the tune. It controls the flaps via canbus. The jb4 has an auto clear setting but it's nice to be able to see your codes

Does the JB4 prevent the CEL from ever popping up in the first place or does it just allow you to clear them as they come?

I just reinstalled my stock intake and the CEL has gone away. I emailed BMS and they have no idea why it would generate a CEL. Especially with that error code. Unfortunate because it appears to be a well engineered piece. Looks and sounds good. I don't like CELs though.

Thank you for the update. I was originally going to get the BMS, but now I'm just going to skip getting an intake and thinking about just sport cats and exhaust. I saw in another thread you were going with an aftermarket exhaust, what are you going with?

I'm glad you emailed them, especially since we got the same code. Terry from BMS seemed doubtful that the intake could produce THAT PARTICULAR code.

Like you said, I hope the they come up with a solution. It was fun while it lasted, all 1 day of it...

And like you, I CANNOT drive this car with a CEL

Guys. We all know this is a common issue throughout all the intakes on the F series N55. Did anyone actually enable mafless idle on their Jb4?

At idle, the larger reading of air flow causes the stock maf sensor to over/under compensate. Causing a rough idle with any intake that provides a drastic amount of flow difference. What Terry did with the Jb4 was basically tell the car to run full closed loop at idle, just like the n54. It just runs off the 02 wideband sensor. Therefor the car is just idling happily, when off boost and under vaccum the car is smoother and less "lurchey".

This is done through canbus via OBII included with the F series JB4. Just a firmware update.

I will be installing tomorrow with the MAF connected. Then I will install my JB4 later tomorrow, run mafless and then will provide feedback.

Testing begins

Update: just ran the car hard for about 30-40 miles. No codes or rough idle. That being said I'm catless and it didn't throw a code yet after clearing them before startup. So we will see what comes about after another drive. The sound is just....awesome

Update.

Just returned from another drive. My catless code just came back so that is good. Meaning the car has had plenty of time to register any intake issues.

It appears we have a glitch in the matrix. Very strange code!

Codes:
P120D: this is intake related
P0420: this is a normal catless code

I'll install JB4 and run mafless and will let you all know.

For now. A stock car with the vaccum line installed throws a code due to the intake. So will other intakes.

Hopefully we can get some suggestions from Terry. This is such a silly code to be getting.

I installed Fabspeed's high flow cat and I'm extremely pleased with the result. Cold start is a ruckus, as expected, but after about 30sec. it settles into a nice rumble. Deeper tone, but not too loud. More pops and crackles. DEFINITELY better performance. Took about a week for the ECU to adapt but you can definitely feel the difference. I installed the Cyba Carbon Tips, and that's all I'm doing to the exhaust. Everyone raves about the sound. Lots of bang for the buck with this upgrade!

You are the R&D and QA on these things.

None. I wanted to see how it acted before installing. I installed last night and will be running map one and logging

FYI, I spoke with them and they don't recommend anything past map 1 for the M2 until they have the appropriate software for it.

That's weird as I was advised during the week when I get this to run either map 2 or 5...WTF!
They also told me their intake won't throw a cel.
They are pretty inconsistent.
