I'm not a fan of swapping out pads for track days. Is there something that is middle of the road i.e. streetable for DD but also suitable for 1-2 track days a year?

In the past I have tried using some fine grade sandpaper to clean off pad deposits from rotors. It has worked ok so worth a try

I've resorted to just leaving the RS29s on for DD use. They squeal a bit, but I also have a X5M and that vehicle is known for squealing brakes so it doesn't bother me. I can get three events out of them, the stocks were done after two days.

I just put on a set of Pagid RS29s front and rear. The stock pads are pretty beat up from just two track days. I used 1/2 of the front OEM pads and about 1/4 of the rear OEM pads. I'm running the RS29s on the street for two weeks before my next event at the Glen. I'm hoping to clean up the rotors that have heavy OEM pad deposits. I'll never run stock pads again on the M2. More to come after my next outing at the Glen.

If you can't get your OEM discs cleaned up by driving them with race pads cold, then you don't have much to lose by trying a medium grit sandpaper. Just remember that the goal is to remove the pad material and not the metal. I'd hit them with the sandpaper, then drive them cold with the race pads some more to try and scrub them further. After that, try doing a bed-in with your race pads of choice.

M2 Belgium Same question here, can the discs be recovered or is a swap needed? Is it advisable to swap pads my self as a non mechanic?
I can't advise you on the swapping of pads. It never hurts to learn a new skill, but if you don't know what you're doing, it's always a good idea to have someone who does work with you. Brakes are a safety item, and not doing them properly could have disastrous results!

Thanks for your kind advice :-)

I had already watched your video, but had not understood that the race pads would actually potentially clean the discs. I thought that
- the bed-in process was only to adapt the shape of new pads to the discs
- mixing deposits from different types of pads was worse than anything

After my second trackday my brake shudder is gone weirdly. I tried to keep braking at max 80% with the stock pads and concentrated on having fun. They still have one day left in them. Will switch to RS29's when I go to Spa and will try how they behave on the street.

Am going to test Pagid RS29
or the Endless if Franzino offers a good price ;-)
in a few weeks...
In the end I decided to keep the Endless if I want to track my M2 again and I already did....Last minute decision to go to the ring => 45min later the Endless were back in place and the car was ready to hit the track (after bedding in the brake pads again). Switching between OEM street pads and the Endless ME 20 had zero issues...

Nice video !
Which exhaust do you have ? I don't recognise the noise (probably also distorted by the camera)

Question, how come we can't just use stock m3/m4 pads? Aren't they the same brakes?

That's what I thought until the OEM pads left excess deposits on my rotors. Too much stopping poster overwhelms the heat limits of the OEM pads. Do yourself a favor and use a proper track pad on the M2.

I'm seriously considering this option and curious to know about how this has worked for you? I don't drive my M2 daily and think this is the way to go with high-temp fluid and stainless steel lines. I've got 2 days on my stock pads and the fronts are ~1/2 gone, the rears about 1/4 gone.

The Pagid RS29s worked well on the track. They handle far higher temps than the OEM pads.

I love the squeal. It kinda funny when 10 heads snap around when they hear me pulling into the local gas station. They always have a surprised look when they see the noise coming from a new M2. Good stuff.

The squeal on mine is less impressive than with the Ferodo DS2500. I also drive it daily
