Thanks for keeping up with the thread. Car magazine sneakpeek earlier this month got me confused profoundly about the M2 CS engine. BMW still didn't confirm N55 or S55 but it leans toward S55 from what I hear.

Price wise I would pay max 25.000USD extra for a M2 CS if it had the following;

Let's hope the price will not be out of this world and also (for me) I hope the M2 CS wil get front speakers and a decent HK audio system for daily usage. The missing armrest is something that I will miss, but can be placed back in afterwards. It also needs a manual gearbox; but reading that the M4 CS is DCT only got me worried a bit. Let's wait and see....

But if it ticks all the right boxes for me...then maybe I will get one....I'm on the list of 2x BMW dealers...so we will see what the future brings.

Well, in the recent past M2 test mules have been spotted with both N55 and S55 sounding engines. That begs the question: N55 just for comparison's sake or for the M2 CS ?

Personally I still believe that the S55 will power the M2 CS. Let's just hope that the M2 test mules with S55 sounding engine lapping the Nürburgring are effectively M2 CS material, rather than M2 GTS in disguise material.

This continues to be my favorite thread, as I can't imagine how incredible the CS will likely be....
What is the current thought on when the official announcement may come? With the ongoing testing, it seems that this may be coming sometime in the not too distant future?

Maybe earlier.

IIRC, when 1M was teased, information was trickle fed form end of August/beginning September 2010 with Octoberfest. That car was new too and had a March 2011 production. Order books opened for that car in January 2011.

The above stands for what we currently know about the M2 CS so makes sense timescales will be similar.

Hope they get the pricing right. The M4 CS pricing in the UK looks £10000 too high. Would put a M2 CS at around £69000? It will need a special engine and package to carry such a price

Car magazine has a big write up on the M2CS. 402 bhp. Three tenths quicker to 60 mph. Aluminium roof and thinner glass

Only a £9000 mark up on regular M2

GTS yet to be confirmed but likely to happen 444 bhp and c£85000

They are usually fairly accurate with their news.

This is what I was going to say although they didn't mention anything about the S55...My money is now on a tuned B58 aka S58,the S55 being for the GTS or whatever they want to call it later on.
