Active Autowerke | M2 Track Performance Software Tuning
After over a year of testing with our M2, we're now releasing our performance software flash!
Our M2 has seen dozens of track days and after extensive R&D we've settled on a final tune that we believe will produce the most consistent and reliable power lap after lap without falling off or causing any drivetrain malfunctions. Being in Miami, we see some of the hottest and most humid temps in the country! Approaching the 400whp mark has caused fueling issues with the stock fuel system and adding any more torque down low will cause power levels to drop up top when temps rise. We've been able to extract ~415 lb/ft of torque and ~378whp lap after lap without any problems. When we bumped up the torque to ~430 lb/ft the car would make inconsistent power at higher RPMs due to varied ignition timing and throttle opening. Increasing the power to 400whp led to drivetrain malfunctions caused by lowered fuel pressure. Our ECU reflash corrects the leaner stock AFR ratio allowing us to increase boost safely and reliably. We lower the AFR sooner and more significantly compared to the stock curve to promote consistent power lap after lap. Piggyback units do not modify the AFR and thus have not proven to provide consistent performance during extended use. Key Features: Horsepower and torque gains throughout the entire RPM band Recalibrated settings for a smoother and more responsive part throttle transition Recalibrated settings for a smoother and more responsive power delivery Modified Vanos camshaft remapping Available "Burble" Maps Free unlimited tech support and assistance Up to 4 custom maps included for free Available Options: Cold start delete Off Road Only Downpipe Map Burble Option Tuner flag removal OBD Flashing Option If you purchase a Simon-3 cable from us you are able to perform each reflash at your own convenience using your Windows based laptop. We will include up to (4) custom maps with the purchase of our software and Simon-3 cable. Please feel free to post any questions or concerns in this thread! I will post a dyno with a delta from our Mustang dyno later today. It is not with a stock cat. Our complete exhaust system is a turbo-back 3.5" system. Keep in mind that this tune is not designed for maximum peak power or torque. We have tunes that can produce 400whp, but on the track as temps rise they lose power up top, and after repeated pulls the fuel pumps can't keep up and you'll get a drivetrain malfunction. These tunes often cause no problems on the street, but for a track driven car they are not acceptable. Our M2 will run a full 30 minute session at race pace with full power as long as the brakes can keep up, good luck doing that with a piggyback or a flash making 400whp. The 4 maps are user definable. For example, you can choose a map with stock power, but burble and cold start deleted, another with full power, downpipe and cold start deleted, another with a bone stock map, and one more with just a downpipe map. You can essentially mix and match options and have 4 maps ready to load whenever you want. |

How deep is the sound on all three settings with only the “Burble" Maps?
I like to get the Comfort sound like SPORT and the Sport sound like SPORT + Are you Burble Maps do that? Is there a way to have this valve remain open even in Comfort mode? I wish there was a way to give me the "Sport +" exhaust note all the time |

Hi David,
Nice work! Are you going to be supporting any options for those of us that might want to go beyond this with the following?
...if so, any ETA? Thanks! |

Other tuners have stated the turbo is the primary limitation. Surprised to hear fueling was the issue. What's the best way to address for more aggressive tunes? Are you able to get more headroom with the intercooler upgrade?

These runs were on 93 octane.

The turbo is also a limit and at higher power levels you'll see the numbers start to fall off even more up top. Without additional fuel system upgrades I wouldn't feel comfortable pushing much further. |

What is the target boost?
Where's the big important baseline ? Curious as to why VF-Engineering is able to produce better delta?

Throw in a BM3 delta for comparison. This is a 6MT m235i on a catless downpipe (w/o bigger IC) BM3 flashed vs. stock flash with catless DP on the car, according to PTF.

[QUOTE=David@ActiveAutowerke;21832282][SIZE="2"]After over a year of testing with our M2, we're now releasing our performance software flash!

We lower the AFR sooner and more significantly compared to the stock curve to promote consistent power lap after lap. Piggyback units do not modify the AFR and thus have not proven to provide consistent performance during extended use..... That is an overstatement, of course. Piggies range from simple boxes that deal only with boost, to much more sophisticated ones that adjust fuel, spark, boost, etc. |
