Weird.

I have no idea but I'd be pissed myself if I was in your position.

Still having this problem?
I am going to my dealer for an istep upgrade but won't do it if the latest version will end deleting those amazing sounds.

Mine is a Feb 18, I really hope the engine sound and panel software issue have nothing related... that would be pretty strange no?

Entering my VIN into https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html thankfully comes up with nothing. My days would not start the same if I wasn't able to get my early fill of cracks and burbles in the parking ramp.

OP please keep us updated. I assume you've tried all the modes so far?

Software Update

Just had my 18 M2 software update done at the dealer, and do not notice any difference in sound.

I honestly think any sound changes after an istep update are just a placebo effect. There are some days my car is louder than others. It all depends on exhaust inlet temps, ambiant air temperature and how warm or cold the car is. Sometimes it's super loud, sometimes it isn't. I think it's perfectly normal.

Was yours affected by this recall? I'm surprised since the recall is from November and if yours is Feb 18 build then legally, the dealer was not supposed to deliver the car to you without fixing this.

Don't know yet, will ask when 1st check comes. But so far so good, all seem to work perfect

I took delivery in Dec 2017 and IIRC the update was done after it arrived in LA, but before I got it.

Been a week now. Definitely quieter. Quite obvious in fact (popping sounds).
Is it possible to revert back at dealer?

Why would they do this?? Sell more M performance exhausts I guess...?
I could understand if the car arrived that way but to have the car 'performing'
a certain way and then to have it taken away is BS!!
