That's why I said "almost". If you ask BMW, they may not admit it publicly but in real life M2 is probably more of a driver's car than M4. At least all the reviews I have seen so far say so...

depending on how "driver's car" is defined. I have driven both M2s and M4s w/ carbon brakes on the M4s at the performance center M school.

I tell you, M4 has more precision, power and stopping, no question about it. M2 are only used for the autocross because of it's nimbleness and fun factor.

at the end of day, M4 feels like a serious machine you operate to achieve best time on the track, while the M2 feels more like a fun toy you manipulate to surprise yourself on a mountain road. I know what I would prefer to drive on the way home.

Also the shape of the M4 is bit too serious, I was never excited by this car, a bit more by the M3, and much much more by the M2

Congrats.
I drove an M4 on an Autocross a few years back and while it was a heck of a machine, it felt like a barge in the Autocross.
If they cost the exact same, I would choose the M2. Yes, even an N55 M2.

Don't look back. The N55 is a pretty bulletproof motor, even FBO. Between that, its sound, and part availability (since it's a generic EWG N55), it should really go the distance and be great fun in the process.

Sorry don't understand, they will regret buying the s55 because they can't buy the N55. The m2 makes me smile when I start it and drive it.
I love the N55. It sounds wonderful compared to the elephant farts the S55 makes.
Thanks guys for making me feel a lil better after taking ownership of my 2018 M2 exactly one week ago from today.

I was actually a tad annoyed of the M2C announcement just as my car was on route to me on the ship after a looooooong wait due to order hiccups between my local dealer and factory end of Germany.

I almost bought my dealer's last configurable allocation a few weeks ago.
Ultimately the numbers didn't work out for me at this time, so I had to pass, but if they did, I would have gladly bought it even knowing about the upcoming Comp.
For my intended street and DD use, the LCI M2 would have been plenty powerful and is a wonderful car and I would have been proud to own it just as you should be!

The N55 is an awesome engine. I love my N55 135 so much I've decided to keep it indefinitely (6MT with hydraulic steering), which is part of what made the numbers on the M2 not work out (nothing to trade in).

i bought a pre face lift in mineral gray, its done 20 miles and isn't even registered. so now i have a black one i use myself and the mineral grey to go into storage. its fully loaded.

Just received my 2018 Alpine White LCI M2 about 12 days ago. It's still unregistered partially because I'm not sure if I want it or flog it off for cheap to get the M2C.

Judging off everyone optimism here, the N55 sounds like a keeper so I think y'all have help me make my mind up.
