BMW M2 competition magazine article with sound clip
Here's the full article:
https://www.bmw-m.com/en/all-models/...mpetition.html Scroll down for the sound: https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/maga...on-engine.html The M2 competition exhaust sounds raspy and metallic reminiscent of legendary BMWs of the past. Enjoy!

That's a pretty crappy quality sound clip that has been recorded from what sounds like a phone or some other device with a poor quality microphone.
I think a better quality audio/video clip is in order to really tell what it sounds like.

I don't think the S55 sounds all that terrible in person, but by no stretch of the imagination would I call it a beautiful sound. Here is my hot take: The best sounding S55 exhaust is no better than the worst sounding N55 exhausts.

Very interesting. I wonder what it's daily drivability will be like. I still think that front grille is ugly, but the rest of it looks great.

Yeah, I like it, but the M4/M3 sound never bothered me. As nice as the new M2 is, there are still elements I like on the current M2 better. I do like the mirrors, seats, and the wider front side openings on the M2C.

Garage List 2019 BMW M2 Comp [0.00]

Sounds okay. At this point, am interested in seeing how tweaks to handling, cooling, steering all work with the new engine to enhance the driving experience. What I like so far:
Addition of drive logic to DCT personal settings Bump in power LED lights Dislikes: new wheels--they're gonna be a pain to clean (they remind me of the wheels on my Macan GTS ). On the fence about: the M3/4 seats, they should've come with thigh support like the sport seats. Also new brakes, hope they don't squel like some high performance pads. On paper, the Comp looks like an improvement over the regular M2, looking forward to reviews

i'm hoping AWE bring out their non-res switchpath exhaust for this car. One of the better sounding exhausts for the s55 without the farting noise (or very minimal)

Who else thinks BMW is focusing on the overrev sound and ignoring the revving sound? The burbles are cool, but on accel, the car is anemic.
Oh and the references to the E46, OMG, that car sounded like shit. Sounded tolerable after I added a rasp terminator and a cat back exhaust. Is raspy appealing? Maybe to some, but I hated it. As I've suggested for a while, I would be very surprised if BMW didn't do some work trying to improve on the S55 exhaust sound for the M2. What's funny is it looks like they used the same exhaust can from the M4! Sometimes I wonder. Watching the DPC video, it is interesting to hear that they have made moves to improve the chassis to match the power. The current M2 has trouble putting the power down, so it will be VERY interesting to see if the M2C can put the power down with the improvements - in spite of still using the same tires. How about the laughable concession on the M mirrors??? I loved the excuse that the tested the design and they weren't happy with the wind noise. I guess the wind noise miraculously disappeared...
