There is no such thing. You've fallen for marketing hype.

You'd trust a freaking machine to wash your car? Right after some soccer mom's grungy Chevy Tahoe went through it?

People who care about their cars don't put them through machine washes, period.

Well with all the OEM orange peel .. .

Do you think your dealer hand washed your car ?

Actually, the only wash I use is a touchless machine wash if I'm not washing it myself. If you want swirls, take it to the local "hand wash". They will lovingly install swirls by hand.

My car is for me, and I'm not one for calling attention to myself, but the road needs less of the blacks, whites, and silvers.

My Sapphire Blue Cayman got so many positive comments due to its color alone. Part of owning a high performance car is the comradery between enthusiasts and the discussions we have. Many times, the color of the car is the ice breaker for these conversations. I understand the stealth appeal, but wouldn't have minded some more new, brighter choices, not shared with the X models. I do understand that the assembly process for the M2 in general is part of the problem from what I've read.
I'm with you. LBB is nice and sporty. Sapphire Blue is an even better color and I would get it on any BMW in a heartbeat if it were an option.

I must confess, even Yas Marina Blue has grown on me of late.

The biggest disappointment is Sunset Orange. Not everything has to be Fire Orange, but come on...

Every MG M2 I have seen looks awesome! Really shows the flared fenders off!

Sunset Orange looks terrible.....

I've only seen one MG in person, at a track event, and was not impressed by the color. Could be that the somewhat dull track wheels on the car had me misjudge the color. Be that as it may, it's too dark for my taste. Better than black, but still far from a traditional silver grey type of color.

Have you seen sunset orange in person? I mean, does BMW have it on other models?

Go to your local dealer. It's on the m240, I believe the 340 sedan, the 440 coupe , and the X2. Or check other threads ... I know I've posted the color. It's not near as good looking as Valencia orange ( which is brighter and looks better in the sun- well at all times - ) in my opinion.

Exactly.

Gotta love the opinions on touchless washes from guys that haven't used one in two decades because they hate them so much and only hand wash their car

I’ve seen the sunset orange on the X2. It has too much brown and is very dull. Not an exciting color.

Agree a true touchless wash can clean off the dust, but if your car has grime and a coating of dirt it has to be washed by hand.

If you go to a touchless car wash and it doesn't get off all the grime (which it won't) then you chamois the car with the grime still on the paint, it's a recipe for swirl and scratch disaster.

I'll have to go to the dealer and check it out.

Brown is not necessarily bad IMHO. Maybe it doesn't go with this car, but my wife's Acura MDX is a Ionized Bronze and is sort of in that range. It is BY FAR the color we have gotten the most compliments on, on any car we've owned. I mean even after 6 years, people still tell me that it looks great. That tone with the metallic in it, looks spectacular in the sun.

I'm pretty sure Sunset Orange would not be my first choice if the selection were that of any other BMW model. But given the limited choices, it might be one of the better ones.

Asked my girlfriend and answer was...... Uhmmm no clue what colour to take!

It is freaking annoying. HS is OK, LBB I already had on my M2, Sunset Orange = Sunset Brown, White I already had on my 135i, and this leaves black.

Black, I absolutely hate black, because you see every single piece of dirt on black... but it seems to be the only answer right now as a good basis for a bunch of wrap projects which are on my mind right now.

Didn't he shoot the studio piece for Schmee? I wonder if he saw HS outdoors?

Yes, that's my understanding - but I think he said that he only saw it in the studio (which he said looked amazing).

Yes, I did under studio lights and it looked stunning... but in that daylight it worries me greatly. Those photos show that it has the tendency of looking like primer and that is not what I want to see! I think I will still opt for it but I am considering a wrap right now!!

Main issue is that I will not see the car under strong sunlight until July and I have to drop my order by the end of next month. Not sure when the order lock is, but I am touch worried after seeing these daylight photos from China. The total deadness of the color is like watching a color totally different from what I saw under the spotlights in the studio.

You can clearly see what I mean when you watch the show photos which are much better. There the spotlights bring out the quality of the paint color, but if there is no real main source of spotlight, the paint becomes really dull and that is something I never picked up in the studio. I just need to see it again somewhere in daylight... Maybe they will have a car at the hospitality at the N24.

Nope it stayed inside under studio lights.

Here in Illinois we have 4 types of car washes.

1) Hand carwash
2) Touchless carwash
3) Softcloth or Softtouch carwash
4) Regular carwash (bristles)

I only use the touchless in the Winter, or 3 bucket hand wash myself.
