Just a quick question about headroom

If there is headroom difference between power seat and manual seat, shouldn't manufacturers specify that? They only say there is headroom difference between with sunroof or no sunroof? I'm gonna test drive M2 and if I see headroom difference between that and 228i then I would go for 228i, but I kinda don't get how they don't specify the difference between manual and power seat headroom if that's true. any ideas guys???

I think you will be hard pressed to find an M2 to test drive.

Yep, don't see a test drive happening for this car.

I'm 6'4", sat in the M2 few days ago and it has more headroom compared to my 135 with sunroof. Felt like i had a good 2-3 inches of clearance

Can I just test drive m235i to see that? I mean it is same interior with electric seats right?

See that can be due to no sunroof. I don't know man. I have no problem with my 128i in terms of headroom, but no way I can wear helmet, so extra 2~3 inches that 2ers seems to have solve the issue, but those electric seats tho! Lol

Ah, didn't know you wanted to wear a helmet lol go check out a 2 series with power seats, should be the same seat height as the M2.

Manual seats sit lower, so you'll have more headroom. Ask the dealer if they can spec sport seats with lumbar support, but manual controls.

I'm 6'4 as well... so, was there enough leg room for you? With the thigh extension, I believe that will help with taller people

Plenty of leg room and didn't feel cramped at all. Of course when i got inside, seat was super close (could of drove with my knees) so i moved it back all the way and lowered it which felt really comfortable while i pretended to drive

I haven't measured it, but my impression is that the electric seats add less height than what the sunroof takes away.

So if you're tall, avoid the sunroof more than the electric seats (ideally, avoid both – especially if you plan to wear a helmet).

If you're unsure, try a M235i. It has the same cabin and the same seats.

Leg room is usually not a problem, especially when you have the seat all the way down anyway (at least for the manual seats, putting the seat up slightly reduces the leg room).

[edit]: I'm 6'5".

FWIW, I am 6ft3/190cm and I had no trouble fitting in a M235 wit manual seats and sunroof.
Not sure if wearing helmet would be possible nor how much the power seats add in height.

I ordered my M2 without sunroof and power seats but with lumbar support to geat as much space as possible even if I know a sunroof would work for me.

Thanks for the picture man. See, that makes me confused more. 228i also has same measurement and it has manual seat. According to that, power seat and manual seat shouldn't have height difference, but people say it does. Only way to find that out is test driving 228i and m235i I guess. I'm gonna do that probably in a few weeks.

Maybe BMW doesn't do separate graphics for every market. Neither the M2 nor any other 2-series comes with electric seats as standard in Germany, for example, so all materials from BMW Germany should reference the manual seats.

Probably the best option.

I am 6'1" and sit up pretty upright due to a fusion in my back. I have driven the M235i with a sunroof and power seat and found the ergonomics to be great. Tons of headroom and the seat could be moved back quite a bit. My guess is that without the sunroof you will gain an inch or so of headroom.

I sat in those two cars at the dealer two weeks ago. Both of them had no sunroof.

Manual seat car had more room. I've been nagging my dealer for the last two weeks on the M2 with Manual seats.

What about a Change.org page

Yeah, I mean we can make an argument there because EU somehow gets manual seat lol. Man, all the jokes aside, I might go for 228i if M2 can't be equipped with manual seats.
