M2 Driving Reviews?
Does anyone know why there has not been one driving reviews of the M2 to date? Hasn't BMW released any cars to the media yet or is there a gag-order in place until a certain date?

Haven't seen a one - and I've been watching like a hawk too...Very little yet on C&D or MT websites too. Even after its been at a few shows.
I suspect it will be making the cover of many a rag soon...

Curious for EVOs take.. I am afraid that zee Germans may not pay Car & Driver, MT, R&T, the same amount as GM and Ford do
Regardless, I think reviewers are going to really lay out the superlatives for the M2. |

I guess that Chris Harris may be among the first to test drive the M2 (except if his new job at Top Gear interferes).
Remember the 1M: On 14 July 2010 BMW M engineer Frank Isenberg (key engineer behind the 1M + M2 project leader) took him for a spin in a pre-production 1M at the Ascari circuit in Spain. In Autumn 2010 BMW invited him to Germany to test drive a 1M test mule: And he liked the 1M very much. Read for example: http://www.bimmerfile.com/2010/12/17...eviews-the-1m/ See also:

T minus 9 days or so.......and counting.........
About reviews; They will be good IMHO, Noblesse Oblige . But; The M2 will be compared to the 1M, IMHO the M2 is more refined, more the evolutionary continuation where the 1M was a mean, lean driving machine. The 1M could behave as a snake, it would bite the driver if not alert and not awake behind the wheel, very edgy, sometimes even unpredictable behavior. It is my believe and prediction the M2 is less edgy, more predictable, a more drivers friendly car. So in that respect maybe some reviews could be a little bit "negative".....being not the razor blade the 1M was..... |

In the CAR interview (December 2015) he pointed out that the 1M feistiness factor was taken care of for the M2: The 1M rode like it had ants in its pants, and you caught its oversteer more with punches than steering inputs. I ask [Frank Isenberg] if that feistiness was intentional, or a by-product of the M melting pot. «Byproduct,» confirms Isenberg. «We were still learning with the turbocharged engine. For the M2, the ride is much more compliant, and it’s not so tricky at the limit.» The big question, of course, is how M2 compares with M4, and which Isenberg prefers. «M2,» he answers without hesitation. «I like the smaller cars. The M2 might even be faster through a tight slalom.» Or around the Nürburgring. Officially, the M2 is good for a 7min 58sec, the M4 a 7min52sec. The 1M did 8min 15sec.The M2 as 'domesticated' 1M.

I look forward to hearing what most have to say about the car.
I'd prefer to hear the less positive reviewers. I agree, Chris Harris and "The Getawayer" seem to give the least BS explanation of what is great about the cars they review and what's not so great. The getawayer hopefully will get a 6spd manual to review. |

Personally, I prefer to hear reviewers who say what they think and why. That's not an issue of positive vs. negative. A well done review that is positive is worth far more than a crap review that is negative. And vice versa.

Curious to know what Randy Pobst thinks about the M2.
As you may recall, he was among the very few who did not like the 1M ("I hate this car"): http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=599859
