I wish we were allowed M Drivers Package in the US, I think the M2 is going to really deliver the brand as a true enthusiasts car. I'll be looking into one as a DD.

This all really annoys me. BMW is milking the shit out of this car and just turning it into a PR gem for them, because they know they FINALLY have something worthwhile.

When 20% of the cars you plan to produce in year one are press vehicles, you're doing it wrong.

Proof M2 not limited

Already 133 floating around. That's nearly 20% of the total 1M coupe production and it's not even out, yet.

Watch this space. I just found many more, but EURO spec this time.

1M production = 6309 cars (740 US).

I think the DCT/6MT rate will be closer to 50% in the US as it was with previous M cars.

I'm still on the fence. Unique benefits to both.

What comes with the M drivers package and could that be part of the 100% of US cars?

Little side question. That VIN decoder is now linked to from BMW Archive dot com / BMW Archiv dot de.

I always liked that VIN and had a nice export to pdf option. Since a few months it links to the one listed here. Anyone know what happened? I sent an email to the address listed at the bottom, but never got a reply.

Interesting that the M2 in Australia actually starts around $76k. Thats comparable to the RS3 and AMG isn't it? You just get screwed over by the taxes.

The first post of this thread has been updated.

As per 20 December 2015, already 333 M2 cars could be retrieved in the system, on the basis of their guessed VIN (for full specs, check the system: public VIN Decoder):
  • 1H91 = EURO spec (Left Hand Drive): 100 M2 cars retrieved
  • 1H92 = EURO spec (Right Hand Drive): 100 M2 cars retrieved
  • 1H93 = US spec (Left Hand Drive): 133 M2 cars retrieved
Note for admins Jason and Dackelone: should BMW prefer the info to be partially or totally removed, please remove at once upon first request.

"1H92 = EURO spec (Right Hand Drive): 100 M2 cars retrieved
(VIN: V353100 through V353199)
Transmission:
95 M-DCT = 95.00% (LBB: 63 | AW: 15 | BSM: 15 | MG: 2)
5 6MT = 5.00% (LBB: 1 | AW: 2 | BSM: 1 | MG: 1)"

So these are uk bound? They can't all be press cars, maybe the 1 black manual is mine!

Check the first post: only 5 mention "England/Ireland Version". The rest is "Japan Version", "Australia Version", "Singapore Version" and some unspecified versions for Area Codes 2, 3, 4 and 5. Also a couple featuring "Chinese Language Version" (likely for Hong Kong).

Majority of those retrieved 100 is "Australia Version" and "Japan Version".

Not sure where you're getting your information from. Less than 40% of all E92 M3s sold in the US were manual. The percentage trended lower towards the end of production with only 30% of the LCI models being manual.

Keep in mind who's doing the ordering at this point ... Primarily Dealers, not individuals.

Most are gonna want trot out the flashy model.

I don't understand; there are some with a 2014 production date. How is that possible?
