Dealers holding on to launch car?

Hey guys,

If you were one of the lucky souls that were able to get your hands on a launch car, is your dealership going to be holding on to it for a week/month for other people to see? I found a launch car to purchase, but the dealer wants it for a month on display in the showroom so other people can see it and probably sit in it....

Was wondering what are other peoples situation and if you would be okay with that, bc i am so not okay with buying a car and then letting random people sit in it.

If it's a dealer demo (HEA = Handler Erstausstattung = Dealer Initial Equipment), then it's supposed to serve its purpose: demonstration - exhibition.

My dealer is super cool and only requested the car to stay there a few days but they said it was up to me so i agreed to one day.

Also they told me no one will be allowed to sit in it when it's on display.

My SA said they're not planning on holding the car unless BMW specifically tells them to. If this happens (IE: Need to wait until April 15) then the car will be locked/roped off.

If my dealer wanted to keep the car for display purposes then a strict vetting service would have to be in place.

A lifestyle questionnaire with strict rules, thus:

No belching, farting, clean breath and pants an absolute minimum

I also got the launch model - So far, no mentioning of keeping it there for a while. Thanks for the warning, will make sure no one will get to the inside of my F87.

Usually they're pretty reasonable to accommodate your requests. I posted this elsewhere but the Macan we got was a launch car and driven by the owner of the dealership off the carrier at the big launch party into a roped off area. Stayed there for a few minutes so people could see the grey (other cars there were all black or white) then taken in the back and we took delivery a few days later.

In this particular case I can't think of a single reason someone would need to sit in the car. It's so close to the 235 interior they could sit in that to get a feel then look at photos to see the differences or sit in one at a car show if needed.

I made an agreement with my dealer that his demo car, which I bought, never will touch the showroom. And I'll keep an eye. Living at 200m from his place.

I'm picking mine up at the performance center and my local dealer submitted that paperwork for me so I have no concerns about them trying to keep it. I did tell them that I'd stop by and show it to them on then end of my 1000 mile return trip from SCarolina.

What is the earliest PCD date for the M2?

Same here (dealer HEA car, PC delivery). The idea of them holding on to/displaying it was never broached.
