Tell Neil Simon, Brian and Woody Hair, that Jason says hi. Ran many years with these guys and I know they've done the one lap in a supercharged Mcoupe and more recently a 1M.
Good luck, I will follow the results. |

Im thinking that if you are truely that hard on brakes then why not add a brake cooling duct from the front and add a powered fan to blow air on them. While it wont prevent overheating totally it will slow it down considerably. The weight should be minimal.

Surprised you are having cooling issues, on my 235, fbo, never gets hot runs hotter in traffic than on track. That's in 90 deg plus temps doing open track for the full tank of fuel ( I use the car to run the tracks I will be endurance racing at this season for seat time).
I do run meth water, at a very low nozzle (two cm 3) for keeping intake temps down, and removed some restrictions cowling for better air flow. Not sure if that would help the m2 or not. Sebring, RA and CMP are tough tracks to put down good times with little to no seat time. CMP is like an overgrown go-cart course, your mods will do well there, Esp. for Brakes. Sebring and RA take some time to get the commitment in a few turns since, well, concrete walls. I would do one lap some day, but would have to be west coast, southern driving, that route in FL, total snooze fest. VA is the worst to drive in, maybe just take the Amtrack auto train |

I am actually really interested to hear more about your experience running water meth on track. I was seriously considering running a meth kit but with pure water specifically to keep IATs down as opposed to relying on it for fuel. How has the system treated you? How often do you have to refill on track and do you run pure water or a weak meth blend? Thanks! We are running the event one way or another. There are a couple of parts that will be cutting it extremely tight, like the AP Racing rear kit and some of the new coolers for CSF. But if the new parts are not ready, I will reinstall stock for the event and then continue the build towards the track season and SEMA. I intend this project to run all the way through the year right up to the show. Last edited by paradoxical3; 02-14-2017 at 05:22 PM.. |

Finally someone doing a proper build.
Also, I'm surprised I haven't heard about "One Lap of America" and I'm even more surprised some popular automotive Youtubers haven't done it. It sounds epic and much more enjoyable than those typical rallies. Can't wait to see what there is in store for this car dude, good luck. Cheers

Question about the AP brakes... I have a set of AP racing brakes on my Z4M with Pagid pads and they are great on street and track. https://www.apracing.com/product_det...5575-1010.aspx
My Z4M kit are no race calipers and I was also told that racing calipers like the ones in your kit have a lot of downsides on the street? True? I have them on the car for 5 years and they have zero issues on the street with salt, road dust and other street things. The AP kit you are talking about is a purely race caliper...would this be a good idea to use this in the street? My cars are 85% driven on the street and do around 8-10 trackdays (Nurburgring visits) a year.....and I'm a heavy braker

As a multi-time One Lap of America participant, I'll look forward to following your progress. I'm very interested on the Essex/AP brakes performance.
My F80 is jealous about those. Good luck and have fun!

People often get confused between a dust boot and an actual seal. All pistons in all calipers have seals, otherwise brake fluid would leak out. But dust boots are only found on the street, and become useless once used on track. I do not anticipate any issues using these calipers on street at all, and it is something I have talked to Essex with to put my mind at ease. I just plan on making sure the piston area is clear of debris and on giving it a light wipedown every time I change pads, which is something you should do anyway on street calipers as well. |
