Current M2 Production Delays

So my M2 has been in “quality check” for almost a month. Called my dealership and after they looked into it was told this entire m2 production run is currently being held up by the chip shortage. Anyone else having similar issues? Wonder if this could effect the final round of allocations people are currently booking?

This is pretty industry wide issue. Another reason used cars prices are soaring right now

That seems really unlucky. What was your spec? (Admittedly there's not much to spec on it)
Other folks have had their go through production from beginning to end in that month yours has been sitting.

Black, blue stitch, manual, bi color wheels, executive package, and moonroof. I know most people don’t go with the moonroof, so maybe that’s it? Seems unlikely but can’t figure it out otherwise.

Maybe? As you say if we're looking for differences, that sure is one.
The only officially announced slowdowns for BMW so far are with Minis in Oxford and then the Regensburg plant, which is M3/M4 (amongst other things) and not us.

I believe mine is a week 23 delivery, so far it has only gone for "production scheduled" to "started production". Can't say how long the how process will take, but there is definitely progress at least.

I called the Genius line today and they said my LBB MT car (ordered April 13th) is on track for build in week 20, with no production delays logged against the build at this time. Fingers crossed

Mine is a Week 15 build. Standard build with Exec package and no sunroof. Here were some dates:

Mar 8 - Order Received
Mar 15 - Scheduled for production
Mar 30 - Production begins
...
Apr 14 - Quality check
Apr 19 - At the port

And today, May 6 it is still at the port.

Ordered my Sunset Orange M2C April 2. Production began April 13. April 29 was scheduled completion date, but vehicle has been in "quality check" for a week now, since the 29th.

DCT, Moonroof, Exec Pack.

I have not called my dealer, but did call Genius. They said they had no word of any delays or other issues with production in Leipzig. If nothing changes by next Monday (10 days after "quality check" started), I will call dealer and ask him to check on status.

Good thread to start - maybe we can get to the bottom of what really happening. Thanks!

Same week 18 production, but May 7th is the only thing the genius has said when I have called. Either tomorrow is a big day, or there's a yet to be announced slip coming.

Very interesting. I wonder if it's the moonroof that's doing it. Everyone else seems to be going through just fine, but our moonroof seem to have stuck us in quality check. I'm going to contact my dealership today and ask a few more questions. Thanks for sharing!

Popped through sheet metal and paint this morning. Now awaiting assembly. So probably won't make it today, but likely in the next day or so.

I have the same spec for options (moonroof + exec), but didn't have that same issue.
HS, orange stich, manual, black wheels, exec package, moonroof

Very good information. Thank you for sharing. I ordered mine second week of March so this is a good data point to have for talking to my dealership.
