Another update. Just got my PCD date of 5/18. The earliest allowed was 5/10 (my selection window was 5/10 - 5/20). So even though Niagara Highway is arriving in Charleston on APR 6th, BMW is giving a wide berth in scheduling PCD dates. So a heads up if you are planning similar.

Strange that you were quoted a date of April 6th landing in Charleston when I was quoted a date of April 4th landing in Brunswick, even though Charleston is geographically north of Brunswick. Maybe the ship is headed to Brunswick first and then coming back up to Charleston?

PCD looks fun! But for the cost of the round-trip flights plus shipping all the way back to California, I'd rather just do a one-day M School at Thermal to get that similar experience. It'd be a no-brainer if I was geographically closer to SC or if they ever decided to open up PCD to Thermal.

Plus I don't know if I can take adding another month to this brutal wait

Charleston is usually last stop since they want empty ship to load full of South Carolina built X3s, X5s, and X7s produced for export.

Is it common for there to be such a big gap between the car's arrival from Germany and the PCD date? I have PCD May 7th and that's going to feel like forever. Plus, I don't much like the idea of my baby sitting in the elements for a month.

I would imagine there's only certain days they can do PCD, because they also have M drivers schools and other events on the weekends. It's also my understanding that, due to covid, they've cut back on The number of people that can take PCD on any given day.

Woo! My car is now in transit as well, any other west coast bound cars that were at the port should have gotten on as well. I’m assuming our boat left a couple days ago than I wonder which one were on.

I used to race road bicycles, and we had a few races on the performance center track around this time period. I'd usually show up a little early while they were still slinging M cars around the track. It was so much fun to watch. I always told myself, "one day, I'm gonna have a car like that." Now, over a decade later, I'm revisiting this place to take delivery of my own M car!

My car arrived at the US port approx 3 weeks before the earliest PCD date they offered me. The wait has been torture, even though my CA had warned me that PCD extended your lead time by about a month.

Seems consistent with others' experienced wait times.

Leaving Monday for SC. Can't wait!

I signed up for the free two week trial period on fleetmon.com that tracks ships via satellite. If anybody's interested, here's the Niagara Highway's current position on the Atlantic.

Takes 3-5 days to be processed at the BMW VPC and then probably a day or two for a transport truck to carry it to the dealership.

Add me to the list of those who have secured an allocation!

It was odd how it worked out. Around the first of the year I had a deal with my CA that I would order an M2C in the spring. On Feb 18 I got an email from a friend with an 2021 M2C telling me that the final allocations were happening in March and there were fewer than expected. He read that in this forum - possibly this thread.

I called the CA and asked if it was true, and she confirmed that her dealership would not be getting one. She said she would try trading for one and hope for the best.

I had no backup plan and started to scramble. The next week I saw a used Alpine White 2020 M2C 6-speed with 7000 miles at a Honda dealership an hour away. Listed price was $53,880 I think. I went to see it and it looked to be in perfect condition. The dealer offered a trade-in value for my Camaro. Wasn't a great deal but I was sort of in panic mode, so I went home to sleep on it. Next day I called to check again, and the car was sold.

The following week, my CA called me to tell me that she could not get an allocation. However, she said she didn't normally do this, but she could steer me to a dealer who had one... (I bought a 2015 M235i from her, and we had a good business relationship.) So I called up the other dealer right away, spec'd the car, and gave him a deposit. That was Mar 8. Today I saw this on the My BMW page - it has a VIN!

Those with sharp eyes may notice a similarity between the two cars.

Haha I think you're right. This is one of those things where I'm not near as concerned about when it arrives; just thankful that we were able to secure allocations!

I am in the opposite boat. I am hoping I get mine towards the back half of June. Otherwise my wife will miss the trip as she will be abroad visiting family.

I did get my info today as well. Very excited!
