Seems 10000x more likely than these grand theories.
Seems as if I was right.

Now back to as close as I can get to the original post: What does the sensor/camera for the Automatic High Beams look like?
Can you edit it by going to Advanced edit?

Not sure the issue was a 'parts shortage' - according to BMW, it was an "ordering system error." Beyond that, I agree - he was lucky, it was no accident, and anyone else w/o the Exec Pkg should not be expecting Adaptive LEDs (unless their order explicitly shows it - of which we've seen several examples).
Drinking there Bobert?

Cause it was my first post in the thread.

What's your point? I never said you made more than one post in this thread - in a single post, you first complained that it was worthless (and long), yet continued on [in the same post] and made further comments, i.e., your contribution. Maybe you should start drinking. I'll buy.

Well on my way. And we are well on our way to adding more worthless posts to this thread.

The facts are,
1. The adaptive lights are not standard
2. Most posts in this thread are not even about the adaptive lights.

I have updated the original post to indicate that the car arrived with Adaptive LED Headlights, which are shown on the sticker as standard ("Included" at no extra cost), and Automatic High Beams, which are not shown on the window sticker. Perhaps both are packaged together now. Curiously, the window sticker also lists "Refrigerant," which I haven't seen on any other cars.

Now that more boatloads with M2s are hitting U.S. ports, has anyone else with an early non-Executive Package had the same thing happen?

I will be getting mine in a matter of weeks, it also was ordered without exec. but with 552 adaptives showing on the PO. I will post pics either way. If it is on the car then as I suspected it was probably a mistake in their ordering system and they are just honoring it, which I'm actually surprised. I don't recall anyone else actually posting their PO other than you and me. Anyone out there order the car without the exec pkg show 552 adaptives on their PO? By the way, any chance you can post a couple more picks of your tail lights? So far there's only 1 in AW, yours. Thanks

Someone posted that the 2018 M2 is now on the BMW US website.

It clearly shows that adaptive LED's are only part of the exec package. Proof that the few that got the adaptives for free were lucky. I think we can officially kill this thread as the title is misleading and other countries chiming in on something that never affected them makes it even more confusing.

Again, this only applies to the US, just like this entire thread only concerns the US.

Occams Razor usually wins in the end.

A simple mistake.

Wow. In my wildest dreams, I never imagined a discussion on Adaptive LED Headlights would become deep and philosophical.

However, now I have a new idea for a personalized plate that only those in the know will understand:

The online BYO tool is historically buggy w.r.t. packaging and allowed combinations and provides no new information. The ordering guide has always and will continue to be the black-and-white rules for what's standard, what's in what package, and what cannot be ordered with what.

The camera / sensor should be behind the mirror mount / up on the top of the windshield somewhere.

Interesting. All 3 (OP, me, and you) ordered AW+DCT. Wonder if it has anything to do with the system ordering error or is it more time related. I was one of the very early ones to place the order (6/30/17) even though it just started production today. I called BMW genius today and asked if line item 552 adaptive LEDs showed on their system and they confirmed it did. My guess is they will honor it. We'll see.

We thought we had this figured out, since two of us ordered AW DCTs in June and that was the common connection. You may be the third one: What was the date you actually submitted your order?

Well, that kills the June order theory. The final confirmation for me (before the car arrived) was running the VIN at http://bimmer.work/query.php. That showed the 552 and 5AP options. So now we have one at Week 28 (mine), one at Week 34 or 35 (BMWMTWO) and one that's a September or October build (Paddy) - all '18 AW DCTs. It's really odd that they're spread out more than 2 months on original order and production.

Add me in.

BSM, 6MT, NON-EXEC PKG,

order date: 7/10
Prod. finish: Wk 32

552 and 5AP on build sheet, VIN check, Genius check.

Not that it matters, already on the boat to do anything. finger crossed.

Very curious in the "Chicago" delivery, what's on that build sheet and window sticker.
