M2 has built in violin!

Who needs to listen to classical music when my m2 doubles as a violin?

I traced mine to the air as it passes through the air dam openings.

I sent it in. They told me suspension mounts. Had ordered new ones under warranty.
My car is only 6mths old and 4700km.

Has to be the first performance car that i owned to have problems before 1 year of ownership.

Hey a similar thing happened to me once on a dirt parking lot but only while the car was not moving and I was in reverse trying to pull an Austin Powers 180. Its never happened again, please let us know what the tech diagnosis comes out to be - what specifically is it about the suspension mounts?

Tech advisor said it could be 'over tightening' by factory. Lol

They are changing it today. I will update again.

Shakes head.

Sweet, need parts that fail sounding like trumpets and pianos and we got ourselves an ensemble.

According to tech, the sound was due to this.

The strange thing is it sounded so different from the original violin acoustics. ?

Oh well, lets see how it goes. Collecting car later.

Yes please let us know how you go, hopefully you should be able to tell pretty much straight away if it's fixed.

Just drove back from service center.

So far so good. No more noise. They claimed once they change the mounts, no more noise.

I will just monitor how it goes. I am quite skeptical. Unless the mounts are newly designed, else how does changing to a new one remove the noise? Isnt it just a matter of time the noise returns?

I wouldn't worry about this issue, its not a common failure and it appears you simply had one bad part. Chances are slim that you will have that problem again. I drove my 3 series 190,000 miles before I changed my struts and the mounts (pretty much the same design) were still in good shape (I changed them of course based on mileage). Any part can be defective from the factory.
