Needs a de-tuned S55 of sorts the N55 is not a track worthy engine. Unless they modify it, then how can it be called an N55 ???

Best news I have had all year. I am going to sell my 1M and get the Xdrive 4x4 bug out of my system now and that will mean that I can get a new M2 in the early deliveries in 2016.

I agree IF it had the full S55 motor or a detuned version that 3rd parties could "retune". I would bet it handles as well or if not better than a M4 because of weight, all for ~$8k less.
Personally, I'll have to see how the interior stacks to the M4, that's why I sold my 1M - it wasn't a luxurious/nice place to sit.

I really wish BMW made it an unbelievable car and went all in on it...

yup 100% correct, the next M5/M6 is said to be x drive due to the added hp and getting the power to the ground with out just smoking up tires and no traction

I believe the next generation Cayman/Boxster will be moving to a 4 cylinder engine with up to 390ish HP and being mid-engined, I say Cayman S.

I have a feeling BMW will make sure not to eat into the M3/M4 sales by not using a lot of CF parts, I would not expect a CF roof or trunk for example, might not be a premium leather option (just cloth or Dakota leather...). They are not going to let the performance of the M2 step on the M3/M4 toes, at least not in the 1/4 mile, they are going after the CLA45, S3 (RS3) buyers.

Plus for people like me, the M2 won't be an option unless they made a M2GC (and from what I recall the 2 series GC won't even be made...), I need a 4 door sedan for my family.

I disagree...if no CF roof and tuned N55, then its still a M235i

M2 will get CF roof, wider fenders, and the usual M stuff
