Feedback on kubax86

I just got my OG M2 2017 updated by kubax86 from bimmer-remote.com
I got my Carplay on full screen and have the M2 CS Diff/Steering/DSC now
Plus idrive 6 OS on the headunit and 2021 GPS data
I cannot recommend this guy enough :
- fast replies
- good prices
- and most of all very knowledgeable and professional service
He also updated my wife's Countryman to full screen Carplay, 2021 interface and 2021 GPS data
So thanks a lot Jakub

Is the M2 CS Diff/Steering/DSC noticeably different?

I have the m2 cs eps (steering) and it's amazing, alot lighter than stock (stock imo is way too heavy you end up fighting the wheel and loosing precision) but so much better feel.

I don’t think anyone has confirmed that the coding is different bn the M2C and M2CS.

The “M2CS” coding has been available for years bc that’s what BMW labels the coding for the M2C. That’s what I run on my OG M2.

I don’t think anyone has seen M2CS specific coding available, which would be called “M2GTS” or something similar.

Can anyone confirm that there actually are three different coding packages available for the M2, M2C, and M2CS, and how exactly that coding is labeled by BMW?

kubax86 Do you have detailed info on this since BMW code labeling is confusing?

Yes I can verify this, I was talking to 300f87 a while back about coding his m2 with cs specific features.

So these are the options:

1) F087 = normal OG m2
2) F087CP = m2 competition
3) F087CS = m2CS

Here is an image of the screen shots:

1) This is the GHAS note the module dss IPM (ignore the search box): https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=135

2) This is MDM coding: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=152

So yeah there is indeed specific m2 cs mapping, it has been out for awhile now in the ISTEP because bmw was preparing for the cs model for a long time. Personally my esys launcher is too old to code these cs features for the mdm and ghas so I am on f082gts coding for now.

Hmm, this just adds more confusion for me. F087CS coding was around even before the M2C was released, much less the M2CS. And there wasn’t F087CP coding back then.

But, I haven’t stayed on top of this stuff since I was playing with MDM coding back in 2018, so maybe things have changed!

Yeah I suspect bmw was doing their testing software wise along time ago. Companies always plan ahead even while cars are just a concept.

That's not what happened. The M2C was basically the CS, but then they couldn't keep selling the n55 or s55 as it was in Europe so they spent the money to get the s55 up to code and not the n55 since the n55 was only being sold in one car. So they had to stop selling the m2 and only do the CS, or put the b58 in the m2 and mate it to the DCT, or just give the s55 to all m2 vehicles going forward which was easy because they already did Dev work for the CS. So they created a new model, the Competition that got the s55 at a significant discount.

The B58 would've been epic in the M2

Really we got screwed by the DCT if you think about it. BMW's refusal to mate DCT with B58 is probably why the B58 didn't get used. Obviously, it would have been really easy since M240i already used B58. A B58 with the Z4 M40i state of tune would have been great. I love the S55, but I think B58 is a little better for most people.

The B58 has visceral character because of the single twin scroll

Same with the N55

I would have loved a b58 + s58 sump and pick up combo to solve oil starvation. That would have made it perfect.

Also used Kobax for all three updates and can confirm they represent a significant upgrade all around.

Pair that with fullscreen CarPlay and this becomes a very worth while exercise.

MDM is far less intrusive and Sport+ steering isn’t as heavy. Feedback feels improved but could be placebo. If I were to start the ownership experience over again this would be done on day 2.

Do you have to change back to stock when you bring the car in for service?

I have something similar but I have to remove the install before I take my car in for service. Plus there are some features I can't access to code. At least using BimmerCode.

I used him for carplay on both my cars, which was a significant endeavor because my telematics aren't enabled (us spec, located overseas)
he's great!

How do you get this done? Do you order the software from him? What hardware is needed?
