When I got the car I used the stock pads on my 2017 F87 M2 for trackdays, but they begin fading quickly, and leaving residue after the event.

Mechanic recommended ECB Red Stuff for the 3-4 trackday events I go to a year, but they barely lasted a single event. I guess they should've put in Blue Stuff. Or they weren't bedded in properly. I admit I'm a novice driver and like driving my car hard.

As the new season is opening, I'm looking for a good pad to run on street and 3-4 trackdays a year.

Which pads are you running on your M2? How do they perform?

How long do they last?

How are they on the street?

How many trackdays do you go to each year?

Am I that much better off switching to dedicated trackday pads and running stock the rest of the time?

There are a few threads on this subject if u search.

The common types that will come up in your search are MX72, CCRG and RSL29.

I personally run MX72 as dual duty, they are still dusty, have lower initial bite when cold and squeal a little, however perform well for me.

Me and EBC regardless of colour choice don’t mix.

The OG blue brakes are so easy to pad swap it’s foolish to run street pads on track even as a novice.

I run PFC08 on track and stock on street and I’m happy with both. Convert to Castrol SRF fluid while you’re at it.

I used the PFC08 pads and was very happy with them.
I have a brand new set of front and rear pads available if you are interested.

on the track, they are amazing, never had any fade even during super hot tracks days.


i also run them on the street since i did not want to always change my pads and they are very good in the street too but make a little bit of noise but it does not bother me

In the past, ran performance friction and liked them. I also had dedicated rotors that I would swap on w/the pads for events, to keep the pad and rotors mated.

I only ran them on the street driving to events. I would never run them daily, rattling, squealing are an inconvenience but being able to stop is important and track pad are not effective when cold.

I will NEVER run any EBC product. I tried a set of EBC green for a former daily and they squealed like a stuck pig. Might have been a freak thing but not wasting money again to experiment.

Amazing on the track, never once have had any fade. So far have 6 track days on them, wear is very good. Run them on the street because I don't really drive that much, they are loud for sure.

Wow I am seriously impressed you can handle them on the street!! I cringe every time coming to a stop - sounds like a freight train rolling in. Great track pads though like you said!

haha yeah I think it would get old if I drove the car a lot but I barely do. The nice thing is that everyone is aware I am coming to a stop lol, its extremely loud, like you said a freight train.

I use PFC 08 for track days and stock pads for the street on my daily driver '18 M2. Changing them out for track duty is not difficult and will easily take 20-25 minute HPDE track sessions without fade. I ran the stock pads at track days until I cooked them at Watkins Glen several years ago... along with placing significant residue on the stock rotors. They squeal until you get some heat in them even at the track, so they are really not suitable for street use in my opinion.

For last 12mths I've used DS1.11 front & 2500 rear without any issue (at front dust shields are removed and have GT3 air scoops) & I go DSC off on track, not sure how the 2500 rear would go using MDM.

Previously I used RSL29 F&R but swapping back to oem did require a week or so of normal driving on the Pagids to clean the rotors otherwise I'd get grinding/vibration for weeks.

While removing the dust shields/GT3 scoops helped the oem pads survive mountain twisty drives I wanted to try something better, so went 2500 front/rear for street and very happy with them, a little more dust than oem but so much better on mountain roads. The other plus is now for track I just swap front pads and can swap back straight after when I'm putting street wheels back on.

If you aren't running fcpeuro.com pads, and you can, do it. Otherwise I like my Hawk Brakes pads.

Ferodo is a good pad, I just can't justify the cost with how much I track our the rental car program.

I'm running carbotech xp12 front and rear. They don't fade, wear well, and reasonably low dust. The pedal feel is on the softer side, but no real issues modulating them.

I've been happy with my Hawk DTC60 for track use and Ferodo DS2500 for street. I only use the DTC60 on the front, though. It keeps it faster to switch pads at the track, and the rears really do not wear that fast. All purchased from FCP for the lifetime guarentee.

I ended up getting PFC 08 front+rears. It seems to be one of the only brands that is feasible to acquire here in Denmark.

Looking forward to testing it on track (and street!) next week.

Can't go wrong with those. They do wear a bit quicker than the DS1.11 and RS29.

I use Ferodo DS UNO front & rear for track and Ferodo DS2500 for DD front and rear.

I have also drive DS3.12 and DS1.11 but i didnt liked them. They put too much stress to discs and temperature. My blue calipers become black in front and olive green in rear.

Like others said you need to change brake fluid. Castrol is very good.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I had a great time on track with the PFC 08s. It's really worth it with a dedicated track pad. They worked really well. It's great to be able to drive for a whole day without much fade or deposits on the discs on the way home, and I have a hard time telling whether they saw any wear.

They became extremely noisy after the trackday though! Impossible to slow to a stop without a very loud whining noise. I'm wondering if they go back to being quieter after some street kilometers, but I'll have them changed out while I'm getting new tires on in a couple of weeks.

I recommend doing a week or two of street driving to clean the discs using the cold PFC08 to scrub the disc. You’ll see the disc face clean up over a few weeks and then you can swap back over to the OE compound.
