That's absolutely ridiculous! I can seriously go to well known body shops and get a whole respray or color change for close to that. These wrap guys are insane.

I'd like to know the wholesale cost of materials because I agree, this seems way too high. I know someone who wrapped their M3 a couple of years ago and it only cost $3,500.

Not cheap, but if you think about it...you are preserving the factory paint by protecting it and getting a "new" paint job as well! Kind of a two-in-one....

Don't undervalue the protection Xpel offers... I have had a bunch of crap hit my front bumper or hood which would have caused a serious gouge or chip only to have nothing done to the paint.

If you were to sell the car down the road, any buyer would love knowing that the OEM paint was completely pristine. Also, you don't have to wax or polish for the life of the wrap...that is a nice time saver as well.

But it also boils down to how long you keep it.

Hey guys,

I figured I'd create a thread for my car to highlight current and future mods. This is the first time I've done anything significant to a car before so hopefully you guys can enjoy the ride with me. I plan on owning this car forever so look forward to a lifetime of enjoyment.

Currently, I'm focusing on cosmetic upgrades. For now, I'm content to let the tuners and brave souls figure out what makes the most sense on performance enhancements. I look forward to following in the footsteps of others. In the meantime, my goal is to make my car stand out in a crowd but not push the boundary of being obnoxious.

After picking up my car on Saturday 4/16, I drove roughly 80 miles to get it home and immediately parked it. We were experiencing shitty weather in Texas so I just let it sit in the garage. The following Monday, I dropped my car off at XPEL to get a full Stealth wrap and Prime XR tint. It was somewhat disappointing to pick the car up and then immediately relinquish it but ultimately, the wait was worth it. I was able to finally pick my car up today, a full week and a half later. The XPEL team did a fantastic job and you can see pics of their craft below.

The windows are 35 all around excluding the windshield, of course, which is tinted with something in the high 80s. The benefit of the windshield tint is heat and UV repulsion and it is equally effective as the windows, despite the light rating.

I've also added the M Performance grills, gills, and spoiler. I am undecided on the diffuser (would like to see one in person) and suspension (not sure my driveway can handle it). I plan on getting the steering wheel when it becomes available.

I also have HRE R101s on order in Brushed Dark Clear. I will update this thread when they arrive in the next month or so.

For now, here are some iPhone pics of the car in my driveway. I'd like to get a proper photo shoot done once I get the wheels.

Hope you guys enjoy this build as much as I have so far. I'm super stoked to finally be driving this beast of a car.

P.S. I need a proper custom plate. Feel free to throw out suggestions.

Mineral grey should look like a mini gts, minus the orange wheels.

Man that's steep for paint protection.

What other options are available at a lower price point?

Would love to meet up one day and see the wrap, I have had a couple frozen cars, but might do a wrap instead next time.

I work off of oak knoll and 183 a few times a week, seems like I am pretty close to you.

Agreed. The price is way too much for what the materials cost in the end. In time as more people do this and more installers get into it I could see this coming down.

To the OP, your car looks awesome man. As long as you are happy is all that matters in the end!

What about wrapping the spoiler in dry carbon to match the finish? It's almost an eye sore to have the gloss finish. But I really like the color of the car. Good job man.

For all those responding that you can do en entire paint job for $6,500. Keep in mind that the original paint is much more valuable than a car that was resprayed. So after you spend $6500 on a respray, when you try to sell it you will get less money for it because it was resprayed.

This wrap protects the paint from basically everything except an accident, or big debris objects, while keeping the original paint value.

Is it worth it? That's an individual choice. But for me if its a car you intend to keep for a very long time, it will be worth it when it's time to sell it.

It really does look amazing. I think you need more gloss CF accents to really set it off. Roof, mirrors, diffuser or wait and see what IND comes up with. The gloss against the matte is really needed to finish the overall look.
